Travel from Mineralnye Vody or Cherkessk by coach to Arkhyz. A local four-wheel-drive transfer or taxi is required for Sofiyskaya Polyana and other trailheads near the trailhead. Because the start and finish are in different places, check the return service in advance, arrange a transfer or leave a second vehicle near the finish.

By car

Drive via Cherkessk on the A-155, then take the road to Arkhyz. Gravel approaches to the Sofia Waterfalls and high valleys are unsuitable for some normal cars. Parking

Park in Arkhyz, at Sofiyskaya Polyana or at an official tourist-base area. Do not park in river beds or on grazing tracks.

Difficult sections and safety
