Route at a glance

The approach to the water unfolds gradually, moving from sheltered paths to open shoreline. The character of the area is especially clear in woodland paths, open shores and quiet waterside sections. The main line of the experience is formed by M. ȚUica, Vf. Moldoveanu, Karpatskaia and Transfăgărășan. They are spaced through the journey so that the area reveals itself gradually.

Without a car
The main railway hubs are Sibiu and Brașov. Continue by regional bus or pre-arranged transfer to Bâlea Cascadă, Cârțișoara, Sâmbăta de Sus or the relevant trailhead near the trailhead. Because the start and finish are in different places, check the return service in advance, arrange a transfer or leave a second vehicle near the finish.
By car
Northern trailheads are reached from the DN1, while high-mountain access uses the DN7C Transfăgărășan road. The upper road closes seasonally, so check its status before travelling. Because the start and finish are in different places, check the return service in advance, arrange a transfer or leave a second vehicle near the finish.
Parking
Park at official tourist facilities, mountain huts or signed trailheads on the DN7C. Do not leave a vehicle on narrow bends or in front of mountain-road barriers.
