Route at a glance

The lower section offers a gradual start before woodland gives way to more open terrain. An unhurried pace leaves time to notice wooded lower slopes, mountain meadows and rocky ground rather than focusing only on the finish. The most distinctive places are Caucasus Mountains and Prikliuchencheskaia. It is worth allowing time for a brief stop at each one.

Travel first to Tbilisi, then continue by intercity coach or minibus to the nearest district centre. A local taxi or pre-arranged transfer is usually required for the trailhead near the trailhead.
