Pervyy Etap Tura Monte-Roza: A Mountain Walk with Character

Route at a glance

The lower section offers a gradual start before woodland gives way to more open terrain. Even the connecting sections remain engaging because of wooded lower slopes, mountain meadows and rocky ground. Particular attention should be given to Pervyi, Monte-Roza and Swiss Alps. These are the places that give the route its recognisable character.

Getting there

Without a car

Travel by train to the nearest valley hub, then continue by regional rail or PostBus to the trailhead near the trailhead. A cable car may be required for high-mountain villages; check the return timetable. Because the start and finish are in different places, check the return service in advance, arrange a transfer or leave a second vehicle near the finish.

By car

Difficult sections and safety

Long climbs and descents can slow the pace considerably, especially on wet or rocky ground. The route requires energy for the second half, so identify rest points in advance and avoid a late start. The finish is separate from the start, so arrange the return journey before setting out.
