Route at a glance

The lower section offers a gradual start before woodland gives way to more open terrain. The setting is shaped by a combination of wooded lower slopes, mountain meadows and rocky ground. The route passes Seeblesspitze, Al'piiskii, Innsbruck and North Tyrol. Together they turn the walk into a coherent introduction to the area rather than a simple transfer.

Travel by train to Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof, then continue by regional rail or bus into the relevant valley. From the nearest stop, approach the trailhead on foot or by cable car. The main approach follows the A12 through the Inn Valley, then local roads to the relevant village or cable car. In winter and after snowfall, check vehicle-equipment requirements. Difficult sections and safety

Long climbs and descents can slow the pace considerably, especially on wet or rocky ground. The finish is separate from the start, so arrange the return journey before setting out. Download an offline map and tell someone when you expect to return.
