Tenerife Trail: Degollada de Guajara

Route at a glance

The opening section includes Degollada de Guajara. Vegetation gradually gives way to lava fields, dark rock and open volcanic ground. Later, the main places are Teide and Pico Viejo. There are several suitable points to pause and look around.

Getting there

Without a car

Reach Teide National Park by the main available train or bus connection, then continue to the start of “Tenerife Trail: Degollada de Guajara” by local bus, shuttle, taxi or on foot as appropriate. Check seasonal timetables before travelling.

By car

Drive via the TF-21, TF-24 or TF-38 toward the start of “Tenerife Trail: Degollada de Guajara”. Continue only on roads open to private vehicles and complete restricted or rough sections on foot or by an authorised transfer.

Parking

Use an official car park at the cable car, El Portillo, Roques de García or another signed trailhead. Keep access roads, barriers and emergency routes clear.
