The approach to the water unfolds gradually, moving from sheltered paths to open shoreline. Even the connecting sections remain engaging because of woodland paths, open shores and quiet waterside sections. Particular attention should be given to Grodno, Vitebsk, Vitsebsk and Magiliou. These are the places that give the route its recognisable character.

Getting there

Without a car
Travel by train to Vitebsk, Polotsk, Navapolatsk or Orsha, choosing the hub closest to the trailhead. Continue by suburban train or district bus to the settlement near the trailhead. Because the start and finish are in different places, check the return service in advance, arrange a transfer or leave a second vehicle near the finish.
By car

On long paved sections, ride predictably and do not assume that shops will be frequent. Check the bicycle, forecast, and available daylight before departure. The finish is separate from the start, so arrange the return journey in advance.
