Route at a glance

The path follows the river valley, sometimes close to the water and sometimes on higher banks. The combination of floodplain paths, green riverbanks and quiet country lanes gives the journey its variety. Particular attention should be given to Gomel, Rechitsa, Ob'ezd paroma and Trans-Belarus'. These are the places that give the route its recognisable character.

Getting there

Without a car

Travel by train to Gomel, Rechytsa, Zhlobin or Kalinkavichy, then take a district bus to the settlement near the trailhead. For a point-to-point cycling route, check the return train in advance. Because the start and finish are in different places, check the return service in advance, arrange a transfer or leave a second vehicle near the finish.

By car

Parking

Park beside a station, local council, museum or on firm ground in a settlement. Do not park on embankments or forest access roads.

Difficult sections and safety

On public roads, allow for vehicle traffic, crosswinds, and potentially long gaps between convenient stopping places. Check the brakes and lights, carry enough water, and plan rest points in advance. The finish is separate from the start, so arrange the return journey in advance.
