Route at a glance

Most of the route stays under tree cover, with clearings and old tracks regularly opening the view. Even the connecting sections remain engaging because of mixed woodland, old forest tracks and small clearings. The most distinctive places are Dobrush, Korma, Letnii vtoroi and Vtoraia. It is worth allowing time for a brief stop at each one.

Getting there

Without a car
Travel by train to Gomel, Rechytsa, Zhlobin or Kalinkavichy, then take a district bus to the settlement near the trailhead. For a point-to-point cycling route, check the return train in advance. Because the start and finish are in different places, check the return service in advance, arrange a transfer or leave a second vehicle near the finish.
By car
The main approaches use the M5, M8 and M10, followed by district roads. Polesie gravel roads may become waterlogged after prolonged rain. Because the start and finish are in different places, check the return service in advance, arrange a transfer or leave a second vehicle near the finish.
Parking
Park beside a station, local council, museum or on firm ground in a settlement. Do not park on embankments or forest access roads.

Difficult sections and safety

On public roads, allow for vehicle traffic, crosswinds, and potentially long gaps between convenient stopping places. Check the brakes and lights, carry enough water, and plan rest points in advance. The finish is separate from the start, so arrange the return journey in advance.
