Route description

The forest road from the visitor entrance at Kamenyuki leads into the Royal Meadow district through places with individual names and histories. The Hermit Oak grew beside a former meadow: its broad crown and stocky trunk contrast with trees drawn upward in dense woodland. Tatarskoye Bagno and the Turlyuy tract follow. The tale of a Tatar camp among the marshes is presented as a legend; the tangible interest is the wet hollow and the change of woodland across the road. The former narrow-gauge railway recalls another chapter of the forest’s life, timber extraction during the First World War. This bicycle circuit rewards an unhurried pace, with stops at named natural features before returning to the familiar entrance.
