Route at a glance

The lower section offers a gradual start before woodland gives way to more open terrain. An unhurried pace leaves time to notice wooded lower slopes, mountain meadows and rocky ground rather than focusing only on the finish. The route passes Kleshnia, Proryv Naboko, Vulkanicheskii Tolbachika and Proryv Naboko: Vulkanicheskiy Tolbachika. Together they turn the walk into a coherent introduction to the area rather than a simple transfer.

Getting there

Without a car

Fly to Yelizovo or Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. An organised transfer is the most practical way to reach natural sites and the trailhead near the trailhead; regular transport to remote trails is limited.

By car

Use the main regional road from the city towards Paratunka, Yelizovo or the relevant coast, then only an open access road. Volcanic gravel tracks require a suitable vehicle.

Parking

Leave the car at a tourist base, ranger post, designated area or settlement. Off-road parking on beaches and volcanic ground is unsafe.

Difficult sections and safety
