Route description

The Blue Lakes walking branches connect a wooded ridge, the Stracha valley and lakes with distinct characters. On the northern side, you encounter the “Old Monk” pine, dark Dead Lake and clear Glublya; farther east, paths approach Glubelka. A separate southern side includes an approach to the lakeside walks, so establish the order of all sections and the return beforehand using park signs. This version suits visitors who want a closer look at the natural complex beyond an ordinary short outing. Compare the water, conifer woodland and steep lake slopes, pausing at particular places. Check admission before an independent visit and remain on designated routes.

Route suitability

Be prepared for rolling woodland paths and independent planning between branches. Supervise children on slopes and beside water. Dog and bicycle permissions are unconfirmed; the full collection of paths is unsuitable for a stroller. Continuous reception has not been checked.

Nearby

Lyntupy and its architectural sights require a separate journey. Lakes Yachmenek and Svino lie in the surrounding complex, but visits to their shores are unconfirmed here. Download the national park’s audio guide beforehand for an independent walk.

Getting there

Show on map
Without a car
Regular public transport to the selected entrance near Olshevo and the separate southern approach is unconfirmed. An excursion can be arranged with the park tourism department, but this does not establish independent service times. Decide your departure point beforehand.
By car
The park publishes an ecological-trail entrance on the Olshevo side. Continue to the walking branches on foot. Driving to lakeshores is not included; ask the park about the current road approach and stopping arrangements before travelling.

Difficult sections and safety

Elevation gain
Lake basins and the ridge involve repeated climbs and descents; take care on wet roots and sloping earth. Do not connect branches with direct shortcuts through woodland or wet lakeshores. Much of the complex lies in a strict conservation zone, where the park allows travel only on designated routes. Fires and tents are prohibited on the trail.

How much time to allow

Complete duration for all these branches and their required links is not established. Allow a daylight outing with lake stops and decide the return beforehand. The park’s standard shorter and longer programmes do not establish the time for this expanded visit.

Best time to go

Dry conditions make slope passages and waterside pauses easier. Summer sunshine helps reveal Glublya’s colour; the lakes look different under overcast skies. Check moisture, footbridge condition and current access in spring and autumn.

What to bring
