Route description

Achipse Fortress offers a view of the resort valley through its surviving fortifications. A woodland approach reaches ruins on the ridge, where it is worth pausing between the walls. Their masonry and defensive position help explain the choice of site. This is an introduction to the history around Estosadok rather than a visit to a restored museum castle. The selected version contains several approaches and retraced branches around the fortifications. Do not assume one simple circuit or an organised guide without prior arrangements. Ask the national park about current access, steps and permitted approaches. Examine the surviving walls from an accessible side; avoid climbing the masonry, moving stones or entering closed areas.

Without a car
The official resort guide describes Lastochka trains to Estosadok followed by an onward journey, and buses from Sochi and Adler. Establish the approach from your selected stop to the fortress entrance separately; resort arrival does not mean a drop-off at the ruins.
By car
The resort valley approach uses the A-149 via Estosadok. Agree a permitted drop-off near the woodland entrance and the return. Do not expect vehicle passage over the steps or through the historic fortifications.
Parking
Official parking for this woodland approach is unconfirmed. Ask local services whether a vehicle may be stored at the chosen location until you return. Do not assume a turning area provides parking permission.
