Route description

The Tyzenhauz route begins at its namesake square in Grodno and reveals another side of the city: the intimate architecture of Haradnica, the Tatarka river and the open water of Yubileynoye Lake. Near the old watermill, urban noise gradually gives way to suburban roads. Alternate riding with pauses: study the Music Wing near the start, linger beside the reservoir and look for traces of the Tatarka’s former working life. Farther south, the itinerary heads through the Korobchitsy area towards Bruzgi and Kuźnica. The international section needs separate confirmation of current border-crossing conditions. For a relaxed introduction to the surroundings, arrange a return on the Belarusian side in advance.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
The ride links the Tyzenhauz urban ensemble with Yubileynoye Lake and the old Tatarka watermill. It is a chance to see historic Grodno give way to its suburban landscape, with worthwhile pauses rather than a continuous push towards the border.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
The start is accessible from the city, but the rural finish requires a separate return. This road-based cycle itinerary is unsuitable for small children and strollers; international continuation is unverified. Current dog rules and mobile reception across the complete itinerary are unverified.

Nearby

Karalino’s Tyzenhauz manor operates as a separate rural guest property with restored historic buildings beside the Tatarka. Agree any visit and detour with the hosts; this version should not be presented as the complete manor circuit. Grodno’s Old and New Castles can be added on a separate city walk, after checking museum tickets and opening hours.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The start is at Tyzenhauz Square in urban Grodno, within walking reach of the centre. A current direct bus to the precise start and bicycle carriage have not been verified. Arrange the return from Bruzgi or Kuźnica in advance. International bus traffic at Bruzgi–Kuźnica is excluded by the official Polish July 2026 notice.
By car
Approach Tyzenhauz Square through the city. Continuing onto border-area roads and crossing the frontier are separate travel conditions. The Polish July 2026 notice describes motor access on S 19 and DK 19; it does not establish that these roads suit bicycles.
Parking
A specific starting car park at Tyzenhauz Square has not been verified. Choose a lawful space according to city signs and add the walk. For a one-way ride, agree on a driver meeting point outside controlled areas.

What to expect

Places
Music Wing The Music Wing beside Tyzenhauz Square offers an architectural stop near the urban start.
Yubileynoye Lake Yubileynoye is a reservoir on the suburban section, with open water to appreciate from the shore.
Tatarka watermill The old watermill stands beside the Tatarka; view it from outside without entering abandoned rooms.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 102 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски City junctions and country roads require attention to motor traffic. Do not transpose an old cycling scheme onto an expressway or attempt to bypass border control. As checked on 12 October 2026, the official Bruzgi–Kuźnica notice confirms passenger traffic excluding buses but does not clearly authorise this bicycle crossing. Confirm the permitted crossing mode and required documents with both border authorities.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 h 49 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Set aside most of the daylight for the Belarusian-side ride, with stops at the lake and mill. Allow roughly 4–6 hours of relaxed cycling and pauses to the border area, then add the return you have arranged. This does not estimate border queues or control procedures. The complete international itinerary to Sokółka is a different undertaking.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a dry day from late spring to early autumn, allowing time for stops and a daylight return. Start earlier in hot weather. Check border conditions separately from the season: fine weather does not replace the current crossing rules.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
A reliable bicycle, helmet and lights.
Water, a snack for the country section and rain protection.
Repair kit and a charged phone with a saved map.
Identification and an agreed return plan; international continuation also needs a separate check of entry conditions.
