Route description

This Pessegueiros version begins on Paul da Serra, reaches the Terra Chã paths and leads towards the old north-coast road. Its upper passages cross Ribeira do Lajeado, Ribeira da Hortelã and Córrego da Beira do Lombo Queimado, three named watercourses between the plateau and forested slopes. The programme includes returns over ground already covered. The complete passage is not yet confirmed: establish the condition of the old link between the upper paths and the continuing descent with a local guide before setting out.

Nearby

Córrego da Pedra is a waterfall beside the old north-coast road, requiring a separate approach and a check of current restrictions. It is outside this Pessegueiros version. Levada Fajã do Rodrigues can be visited separately from Ginjas, with its own access arrangements and return along the same path. Its open status does not establish access to the old Pessegueiros link.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Regular connections to the upper departure and exact lower endpoint are not confirmed. Establish whether the old link can be walked before arranging drop-off and collection. For an upper-path visit, agree a return to Paul da Serra. Keep the driver’s contact available if the walking plan changes.
By car
The upper walking approach begins at ER209 on Paul da Serra. Use this location for an agreed drop-off with attention to road traffic. The lower endpoint is beside the old north-coast passage; vehicle collection there is not established separately. Plan retrieval at the upper approach until the through passage has been checked.
Parking
No verified parking area at the exact upper departure is established. Ask where leaving a vehicle is permitted and how to reach the walking approach. Observe local restrictions beside ER209; a drop-off location does not establish long-stay permission. The complete version needs a separate car-retrieval plan.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 696 м.
SurfaceImproved surface 3%, Unknown 97%.
Риски The main uncertainty is the old link between the upper passage and the Pessegueiros descent. Stop where vegetation conceals the path or a safe continuation is unclear. Mountain sections include steps and demanding ground; take particular care at stream crossings after rain. Agree the turning point in advance and avoid arranging collection around a usual shorter itinerary.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 6 h 4 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
A full walking time is not established: first confirm the old link and accessible sequence. Returning over the upper approaches adds effort. Agree the accessible-section plan, watercourse pauses and turning time with a local guide. A lower-end finish requires a confirmed return journey beforehand.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
For the confirmed section, choose settled dry weather and clear plateau visibility. The condition of the mountain link matters more than the calendar season. Recheck the passage and stream crossings after heavy rain or wind. Fog on Paul da Serra is a reason to shorten the outing to familiar approaches.
