Подготовка к маршруту

Route at a glance

Forest, river valley, reedbeds and a wide marine horizon follow one another over a compact distance. The infrastructure allows visitors to experience wet coastal landscapes without leaving the protected route corridor. It is one of the most varied short walks on the Kurgalsky Peninsula and a strong option for birdwatching and coastal nature.

Getting there

Without a car
Regional buses toward the Kurgalsky Peninsula are infrequent and do not always reach the trailhead. A substantial walk or taxi may be required from the nearest practical stop. Check services in both directions and arrange the return before travelling, as mobile signal near the start may be weak.
By car
Navigate to the official trailhead by the bridge over the Vybya River and use the Protected Areas Directorate map for the final approach. Local roads cross the Kurgalsky Peninsula; do not enter closed forest tracks. Carry a passport and check current border-zone requirements. Visiting the nature trails in Kurgalsky Reserve is subject to a fee, so confirm the payment method before departure.
Parking
Park only in the permitted area at the official entrance near the Vybya bridge. It should not be treated as guarded parking. Do not leave a vehicle on the bridge, narrow verge, dunes or protected shoreline.

What to expect

The Vybya River valley
Pine and spruce woodland
Reedbeds and wet coastal habitats
Boardwalks, bridges and an observation tower
The Quiet Room and the Horn
Sandy dunes
A panorama of Luga Bay

Difficult sections and safety

Boardwalks, bridges and steps become slippery after rain, in dew or during frost. Wind strengthens quickly on the open shore, while high water can affect individual sections. Check current infrastructure notices after storms, fires or repair work. Large wild animals, including brown bears, occur in Kurgalsky Reserve. Do not leave food waste or approach wildlife and cubs. If you see a bear, do not run; calmly increase the distance and retreat along the route. Stay on the boardwalks, keep out of reedbeds and dunes, do not light fires and avoid damaging visitor structures.

Best time to go

May to October is the most comfortable period. Spring and autumn bring bird migration, but the coast is colder and windier than inland areas. Boardwalks are slippery after rain, and ticks plus mosquitoes are active in summer.
A winter visit is suitable only when boardwalks are clear and there is no severe wind or ice. Check current notices from the Protected Areas Directorate before travelling.

What to bring

footwear with a non-slip sole
a windproof and waterproof layer
water and a small snack
insect repellent and tick protection
binoculars
a passport
an offline map and the GPX
a power bank
