Route at a glance

The forest is presented not only as a natural ecosystem but as a place where Russian forestry science and education developed. Historic plantations, the nursery and teaching sites stand beside the natural Lustovka valley. This is a gentle walk with strong historical and educational content rather than a demanding hike.

Without a car

Regional buses reach Lisino-Korpus from the Tosno or Gatchina direction. The official trail begins opposite Lisino Forestry College. Services are infrequent and may change, so check both outbound and return journeys. The trailhead is normally walkable from the village stop.

By car

Drive to Lisino-Korpus and Lisino Forestry College. The trail begins beside the educational complex; follow the official signs and current route map. Do not drive onto reserve tracks. To include the new church section, compare the supplied GPX with the current 4.8 km official map.

Parking

Use legal public parking near the college or within the village without blocking educational and service access. No guarded car park has been confirmed. Parking elsewhere inside the reserve is prohibited.

Difficult sections and safety

The terrain is easy, but forest roads, roots and small bridges become slippery after rain. Wet ground can occur in the Lustovka valley, with ticks and mosquitoes common in summer. The supplied GPX is about 1.4 km shorter than the current official route. If you follow new signs on site, expect a difference from the file and decide in advance whether to include the extension. Stay out of nursery beds and teaching plantations, do not collect plants and respect the rules of the church grounds.

Best time to go

The official trail is suitable year-round, with May to October the most comfortable period. Roads can be wet in spring and after rain; tick protection is needed in summer; the arboretum and deciduous plantings are especially attractive in autumn.

Snow and ice may affect bridges and descents toward the Lustovka River in winter.
