Route description

The Pushkin Footpath connects two contrasting estate settings. In Bolshiye Vyazyomy, the walk passes the historic Transfiguration Church, the grave of the poet’s younger brother and the Golitsyn Palace. A separately permitted exit to the main footpath then continues through woodland and river surroundings towards Zakharovo. In Zakharovo, the story becomes more domestic: Alexander Pushkin spent childhood summers with his grandmother Maria Hannibal here. Park passages meet a memorial and a sculpture of the young poet, before ending beside the manor house. Today’s building is a reconstruction that helps evoke Pushkin’s childhood world. Plan interior exhibitions and guided tours separately from the walk.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Walk from a grand princely ensemble to the more intimate estate of Pushkin’s childhood. Between them comes time for conversation, woodland paths and small-river encounters. The history is approachable with children: first see the church and palace, then find young Pushkin beside his grandmother. Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
The museum prohibits pets. Supervise young children at road crossings. A stroller outing needs separate assessment of woodland paths and estate approaches.

Nearby

Estate ponds, additional park avenues, the Riding Yard and other exhibitions can form a separate extension. The main walking option does not approach an estate pond’s shoreline, so plan waterside walks independently. The grandmother’s original Zakharovo house did not survive; the present manor house was reconstructed in 1999. Separate museum tickets and opening arrangements help tailor an unhurried programme.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The museum recommends reaching Vyazyomy via Golitsyno railway station, followed by a current bus to the estate stop formerly called Institut, or a separately planned walk. The estate outing needs an approach from the stop. After Zakharovo, reach its railway platform separately using the designated Zvenigorod Highway crossing. Check current services, selected train stops and your return direction.
By car
There are two separate museum approaches, one at Bolshiye Vyazyomy and another at Zakharovo. A car left at the first estate requires an independent return after finishing. For a family day, arrange collection on the finishing side or choose one estate with an accessible part of the footpath. Internal museum paths are not a vehicle connection.
Parking
Parking points are mapped near both estate approaches, at Vyazyomy and Zakharovo. Check permitted use, charges and duration; space availability is unconfirmed. Keep museum gates, walking paths and bus stops clear. Returning to a car on the other side requires a separate plan.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 38 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 29%, Dirt 19%, Gravel 14%, Unknown 30%.
Риски The Vyazyomy estate section and northern footpath need a separately permitted connection. Follow current signs and designated pedestrian crossings without crossing Mozhayskoye Highway directly or climbing museum fences. Woodland ground can be wet after rain and icy in winter. Observe estate opening hours and rules, helping children at crossings. This walking option is not a continuous cycling or stroller-accessible course.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 1 h 21 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow part of a day for an unhurried walk, or a longer museum day if visiting exhibitions. No verified overall duration is available. Decide on interiors first: tickets cover specified exhibitions, and guided tours need advance booking. Check parks and buildings separately and allow for the connection between sections and the return transport approach.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Spring and summer suit the woodland passage, while autumn brings clear views of estate avenues and architecture. After rain, use footwear for wet ground. Winter calls for attention to ice, short daylight and museum schedules. Festivals can alter admission arrangements, so check notices for your chosen date.
