Route description

The Rozhayka makes this walk interesting well before Nikitskiye Quarries. From Vostryakovo, fields lead to the road crossings; the course then skirts Podmoskovye Sanatorium’s settlement and gradually enters woodland. Beside the river, the surroundings change: the path follows the right bank, opens towards bends and returns beneath trees. Stony places in the channel and limestone on the slopes show the variety of Moscow-region river scenery. Blue Pits Bend deserves time in its own right. An open hillside clearing and a limestone outcrop visible from the main path add interest here. Farther on, the bank-side course reaches the outside entrance to Nikitskiye Quarries, followed by Viktor Shagal’s memorial on the woodland ascent. Limestone extraction and underground exploration form the place’s historical background; the walk itself stays on the surface. The final portion leaves the river valley for fields and wooded edges beside Domodedovo’s newer residential quarters. It finishes at Yolochki Park bus stop on Kashirskoye Highway. After river and woodland surroundings, this provides a point for a previously prepared return; entering the park or continuing to the railway station is a separate choice.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Vostryakovo halt and the bus finish near Yolochki allow preparation without a car after checking present services. Children accustomed to extended walking need supervision on roads, beside water and on the steep Nikity ascent; this is not an ordinary park outing with young children. Underground exploration is excluded. Dog rules throughout are unestablished. Cycling is partial: the quarry slope and narrow grassy portions require walking and separate access checks. A stroller is unsuitable for steep uneven bank-side paths. Reception throughout is unconfirmed.

Nearby

The spring north of the quarry entrance needs a separate riverside approach; water quality is unestablished. The stone ford beside the upper bypass is a separate variant requiring water and slippery-slab assessment. Woodland burial-mound groups, Seraphim-Znamensky Skete, Bityagovo’s Resurrection Church and Nikitskoye’s St Nikita Church are excluded from this course. Prepare their approaches and present rules separately. Yolochki Park begins near the bus finish, but its internal paths, mini-zoo and recreation facilities are excluded. Domodedovo Station and Lunnaya Street’s bus location also need separate continuations.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The beginning is at Vostryakovo platform’s northern end on the Paveletsky railway direction. Check a present train and permitted platform exit without overcoming fences. The finish has Yolochki Park bus stop; confirm a Domodedovo Station bus, boarding side and onward train before travel. Turn for Podmoskovye Sanatorium can provide an intermediate bus point with confirmed services. Lunnaya Street buses and walking to the railway station belong to separate continuations.
By car
Prepare permitted arrival near Vostryakovo and separate collection beside Yolochki Park bus stop for this linear walk. Plan the return to a vehicle left at the beginning. Road access to riverside places near Bityagovo does not authorize driving the selected woodland and bank-side paths. Arrange collection at an intermediate road location separately; entering the sanatorium, skete or quarry grounds is excluded from the driving plan.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Mapping identifies a parking area beside Vostryakovo’s beginning road portion, but present storage for the full hike or overnight is unestablished. Arrange vehicle storage separately. A bus stop, filling station or riverside clearing does not establish parking; keep boarding approaches and entrances clear.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 197 м.
SurfaceDirt 22%, Asphalt 16%, Dirt / grass 6%, Unknown 56%.
Риски Cross Kashirskoye Highway at the signalled pedestrian crossing. The M 4 is passed on a bridge crossing with a pedestrian side; keep off motorway lanes. Watch for vehicles on the following road portion and check present permitted passage around the former construction fences. Beside the Rozhayka, narrow grassy places, uneven ground and the steep ascent from Nikity require renewed assessment after rain or ice. Observe limestone from stable paths, avoiding overhanging slabs and collapse edges. The selected continuation bypasses the stone ford above the bank, so walking through water is unnecessary. Do not enter the quarries as part of an ordinary walk: the underground labyrinths are difficult and prone to collapse. Reassess the tributary footbridge and bank-side passage after high water.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 4–5 hours according to the author
With stops | Unestablished This reference applies to the selected surface walking version. Add separate time for arrival, the river-bend pause, outside viewing at the quarries and bus return. Leave daylight for uneven bank-side ground and the steep ascent. Underground time, skete and village-church visits, and continuing to the railway station are excluded. Check present transport gaps independently.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a dry snow-free day for bank-side paths and limestone slopes; deciduous woods and open fields are expressive in autumn. Rain calls for particular attention to the steep quarry ascent, grassy passages and tributary bridge. High water can change bank access even without an obligatory ford. Summer requires protection from tall vegetation and insects. Winter access throughout is unconfirmed, and icy slopes need fresh assessment.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Grippy footwear for uneven banks and the steep ascent.
Water and food; drinking quality in the Rozhayka and local springs is unconfirmed.
Long trousers, rain and insect protection, and a warm layer.
Offline map, phone, battery reserve, torch and first-aid kit.
Poles if needed for balance on permitted uneven passages.
Checked Vostryakovo train, platform exit and return bus.
Underground equipment does not replace separate exploration preparation; this walk remains on the surface.
