Route description

South of Nakhabino, a woodland walk leads to a place associated with the beginnings of Soviet rocketry. At the GIRD memorial, a commemorative marker and rocket recall the launches of 1933. Sergei Korolyov and Mikhail Tikhonravov belong to this history, while the surrounding woods help you imagine the modest setting of those early experiments. This version combines the southern woodland memorial approach, paths beside the Zarnitsa garden community and Nakhabino’s northern side. It begins beside the woodland approach near Zarnitsa and finishes on the residential side farther north; the memorial is on the southern continuation. Choose the order of visits and returns along familiar paths beforehand, since the outing includes approaches from different sides. Take the overgrown clearing slowly and check junctions. Pause at the memorial for the history of the place, and plan the return towards the station before entering the woods.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
For walkers confident at woodland junctions and prepared for a partly overgrown path. Children interested in space may particularly enjoy the memorial, but select approaches and the return according to family fitness. Access throughout for bicycles or strollers is unestablished. Confirm dog conditions before visiting residential and woodland sections.

Nearby

Karbyshev Park and Nakhabino’s town monuments require separate approaches. The local school’s space-history museum is not an unrestricted facility on this woodland outing; arrange any visit with the institution. The military engineering testing ground and fenced areas are outside the permitted memorial visit. Past anniversary events do not provide a tour or escort for today’s independent walk.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Nakhabino is served by MCD-2; check trains and the departure platform for your travel date. The station is separate from the woodland departure near Zarnitsa. This outing includes the northern Nakhabino approach, but choose the subsequent memorial visit and returns along the paths in advance. A regular stop directly beside the memorial is unconfirmed, so plan the woodland return independently.
By car
Choose an accessible public road side in Nakhabino for drop-off, then walk to your chosen woodland approach. Zarnitsa has vehicle access restrictions, so confirm permission to drive through the garden community with its owners. Direct access to the memorial by an ordinary car is unconfirmed. The outing’s start and finish differ; arrange collection or a return beforehand.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Establish a lawful place for a vehicle on Nakhabino’s road side and how to return to it before travelling. Restricted access through the garden community does not establish permission to leave a car there. Do not park on the woodland clearing.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 25 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The southern clearing approach can become overgrown, and its soil may soften after rain. Orange ribbons recorded in past years do not guarantee present marking; the northern section also requires independent navigation. Respect garden-community boundaries and private plots. Avoid testing grounds and other restricted areas, selecting only available walking paths. Keep the woodland return within daylight.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 1 h 21 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The full duration of this version is unestablished. It depends on the chosen order of northern and southern approaches, repeated passages and time at the memorial. Retain separate time for the return to the station or car. Families should select a manageable memorial visit and agreed exit beforehand instead of relying on one brief, uninterrupted passage.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry, snow-free weather when the clearing and woodland branches are visible. Spring conditions and prolonged rain can make dirt paths awkward. Summer calls for tick protection and covered clothing; autumn brings earlier dusk and wet grass. In winter, establish whether a usable passage exists, since snow can hide junctions and evidence of earlier marking.
