Route description

This woodland approach begins beside the upper shelter at a junction of the Borus paths. The road from Cheremushki and Talovsky Log Visitor Centre remain below, so reaching the start needs a separate plan. The path continues through mountain forest towards the Talovka Valley and the rocky streambed below the waterfall. It gives more attention to the woodland portion when the lower approach has already been completed or organised. The path ends below the cascade itself. A closer visit to Borus Waterfall requires an additional climb over boulders, assessed separately according to weather and footing. Confirm access with the park before travelling. A restriction on EcoBorus was announced from 23 June 2026 because of bear encounters, with reopening to be announced separately. Postpone the outing if the direction remains closed.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
The upper trail lets you concentrate on the wooded Talovka Valley and the rocky streambed below Borus. Plan the lower access separately and reserve time for the waterfall only when an additional visit is safe and authorised. The distinction makes the day easier to organise.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - No data By bike - No data With a stroller - No Mobile signal - Poor The woodland start lies above the bus access and visitor centre. Be prepared for an additional approach, climbing and the return descent. Children need assistance on rocks, while the upper trail is unsuitable for a stroller. Ask the park about dogs and bicycles. Do not rely on mobile reception in the mountain forest.

Nearby

Borus Waterfall lies beyond this approach’s ending. A closer visit needs a separate continuation up the rocky streambed; assess the boulders and the return before committing. Serebryany Klyuch Spring is farther down the road approach and outside this woodland section. The Sayano-Shushenskaya dam viewing area requires an independent visit from Cheremushki.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Bus 2/1 from Sayanogorsk terminates at Sosnovy Bor in Cheremushki. This serves the lower approach, not the upper woodland shelter where this walk begins. Plan the separate approach through Talovsky Log and the return to the bus, with park authorisation confirmed beforehand.
By car
Use Cheremushki and Talovsky Log Visitor Centre as the road-access points. The approach from Sayanogorsk runs via Mayna. Ask about access to the centre and the permitted place to begin walking. The upper shelter has not been confirmed as a vehicle drop-off point and requires a separately planned approach.
Parking
Parking at the upper woodland shelter has not been confirmed. Agree on vehicle storage lower down with the park or your host. Do not treat the woodland junction as a parking place: vehicle movements and parking outside designated locations are restricted in the park.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 272 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Pay attention to woodland signs and junctions, as neighbouring paths lead towards other camps and mountain routes. Choose stable footing across the boulders. The extra approach to the waterfall uses the rocky streambed and may be more demanding after rain. Save energy for the descent to the lower access and follow current bear-safety restrictions.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 1 h 10 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Plan the day from your actual arrival point rather than from the upper shelter. Include access through Talovsky Log, the woodland section, any separate continuation to the cascade and the return. Choose a turnaround time beforehand. The short upper section does not make the whole approach from Cheremushki a short outing.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
For a first visit, choose dry weather in the warmer season after access has been confirmed. Ask about the boulders and streambed after rain. Winter calls for a separate assessment of snow, ice and the group’s experience; a summer plan cannot simply be reused. Closure restrictions take priority over seasonal recommendations.

What to bring

Drinking water and food allowing for the lower approach
