Route description

The approach to Borus Waterfall starts at Sosnovy Bor in Cheremushki and gradually leaves the Yenisey behind for the mountain forest of Shushensky Bor National Park. A bridge and road come first, followed by Serebryany Klyuch Spring, Talovsky Log and the woodland trail. Near the end, ordinary ground gives way to a rocky streambed: water runs between the boulders, with the cascade farther above. The journey reveals the transition from the settlement and broad reservoir to the sheltered Talovka Valley. Before making plans, obtain confirmation from the park that the Waterfall direction can be visited. The park announced a temporary restriction on EcoBorus from 23 June 2026 because of bear encounters, with reopening to be announced separately. The usual route description does not override that restriction. After an authorised visit, return to Cheremushki along the same approach, saving energy for the woodland descent and road section.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
The Yenisey bridge, Serebryany Klyuch Spring and waterfall among the boulders give this approach a varied sequence of real places. Starting in Cheremushki offers a fuller experience of the valley than beginning at the upper woodland junction. Make plans once the park confirms the direction is open.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
The start is accessible by bus, but the walk requires stamina and care on rocks. Families need an unhurried pace and the option of turning back early. Ask separately about dog and bicycle access. There is no mobile reception on the mountain route. These recommendations apply only when visiting is authorised.

Nearby

The Sayano-Shushenskaya dam viewing area requires a separate approach from Cheremushki and is outside the waterfall ascent. Check the current access arrangements and plan an independent visit. Other Borus paths, including the mountain summits, extend the outing considerably. They need their own plan and authorisation rather than an improvised choice at a junction.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The municipal 2026 timetable lists bus 2/1 from Sayanogorsk to Cheremushki via Yarygina Street, terminating at Sosnovy Bor close to the start. Check the current service and return departure before travelling. Allow for the entire ascent, descent and pauses when choosing a bus, and obtain confirmation of park access.
By car
The road approach to Cheremushki runs from Sayanogorsk via Mayna. The walk begins at Sosnovy Bor. If you wish to start closer to the mountain forest, agree on access with Talovsky Log Visitor Centre first. Authorised access to the centre does not establish permission to drive along the woodland trail.
Parking
Current information about available parking at this approach’s start has not been confirmed. Agree on vehicle storage and its location with your host or the park. Keep the bus stop, entrances and forest roads clear. The park restricts vehicle movements and parking outside designated places.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 751 м.
SurfaceDirt 29%, Gravel 27%, Asphalt 2%, Unknown 42%.
Риски Watch for traffic on the road section and use a safe position beside the carriageway. Pay attention to woodland junctions, then choose stable footing across the boulder field and streambed. Rocks become particularly slippery after rain. Register your visit at the entrance and follow the park’s bear-safety restrictions. Postpone the walk if the direction is closed.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 3 h 48 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Set aside a full day for the approach from Cheremushki and the return, starting early. Allow time for the road section, visitor-centre registration, woodland ascent and cascade. The descent also takes time. Set a turnaround time and keep a margin before your bus so that you can cross the boulders without rushing.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
When the direction is open, dry weather in the warmer season is the simplest choice for a first visit. Ask about the streambed and road after rain or during spring thaw. Winter visits require a separate plan for snow and ice; the park’s general year-round programme does not establish the condition of this particular approach. Access restrictions apply in every season.

Drinking water and food for the full day
