Route description

On this large cycling loop west of Minsk, Rakov is encountered twice, with a succession of places between its two sides. The first direction leaves the Minsk side of the M6 through Skirmantovo towards Ivenets. It takes in the northern Ivenets area, where watermill ruins stand beside the road, before continuing through Kurduny to Pryalniki and its St Nicholas Church. Galimtsy, Yurzhishki and Perezheri lead to Rakov; beyond the Isloch comes the road towards Mezhdurechye and Kievec. Slow down in Kievec, where a mill, old service buildings and the wooden Trinity Church form a small architectural group. The literary part of the ride follows. The road passes Tupolshchina Cemetery and reaches Malaya Lyutinka, where a monument marks the site of Vintsent Dunin-Martsinkevich’s house. Beyond Burbovshchina and Sharai, the northern arc continues through Dory, Derazki and Kholkhlovo. Kholkhlovo’s wooden Marian church stands beside the Yazvinsky burial chapel. Brody and Berezovtsy lead to Gorodok, with its brick watermill and a memorial stone beside the return road. The journey continues on the Gerdutishki side, through Dubrovo’s old industrial buildings and the tavern ruins in Girevichi. Kuchkuny brings the loop back to eastern Rakov and the Minsk direction. Prepare this substantial independent road ride only after checking permissible cycling connections on the M6 sections and the separate beginning and finishing places.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Combine rural churches, mill buildings and the memory of Dunin-Martsinkevich in one journey. The small wooden church at Kholkhlovo makes a striking comparison with Gorodok’s large brick mill: ordinary villages lie between them, giving the historical journey a setting beyond museum displays. The loop suits experienced cyclists prepared to arrange road connections beforehand and allow time to view places from outside.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - Partially With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data This demanding, long road outing is for a prepared adult cyclist. Local roads alternate with sections beside fast traffic; independently check permissible cycling along the specific M6 sides and exits before attempting the complete ride. A pedestrian crossing with stairs on the Sharai side requires wheeling or carrying the bicycle. The complete version is unsuitable for an ordinary outing with children or a stroller. Dog arrangements and continuous reception are unverified. Without a car, arrange bicycle delivery, support and return from a possible early finish beforehand.

Nearby

Dzerzhinskaya Hill on the Skirmantovo side requires a separate approach: passing nearby does not include its summit. The Red and White churches in historic Ivenets are likewise outside the immediate stops of this northern version. Tupolshchina Cemetery contains Dunin-Martsinkevich’s grave and the Zhabrovsky chapel; approach them separately from the road when access permits. Gorodok’s former castle site, the partially surviving Gerdutishki mill and Dubrovo’s church ruins need their own approaches. Central Rakov’s churches and museum visits do not replace the included roadside stops. This card describes the initial Rakov Loop version published in April 2025: before the May event, the author changed the beginning and the road beyond Skirmantovo. Neither the old nor the revised announcement establishes present support or unrestricted entry to the buildings mentioned.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The physical Pokuti stop on the Ivenets section and Kievec stop provide references for checking transport for a shortened independent outing. Suitable current services and bicycle carriage are unconfirmed. These stops do not establish a ready journey to the Minsk beginning and from the finish on the other side of the road layout. Check bicycle boarding, return arrangements and a reserve departure if a section is omitted. The former brevet timetable does not replace current transport information.
By car
Prepare the starting meeting on the Minsk side of the M6 with a separate permissible vehicle approach; the finish is beside Belorusneft No.39 fuel station. These are different places on different sides of the road layout. Agree the precise unloading side, permissible departure and return between them beforehand. Using a fuel station as a reference does not establish long-stay parking or service-road admission. Do not plan to cross divided carriageways to connect the beginning and finish. Arrange village support meetings separately, clear of traffic and private yards.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. A place for an independent cyclist’s vehicle throughout the ride has not been established. Check whether a particular area may be used, under what conditions and how to return from the actual finish. Church yards, Dubrovo’s industrial grounds, M6 shoulders and fuel-station passages are not ready parking arrangements. Without an agreed place, prepare another permitted arrival option.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceAsphalt 68%, Compacted dirt 5%, Concrete 4%, Unknown 19%.
Риски The complete version’s main limitation is current permissible cycling along the specific M6 sections, sides and exits at the beginning, the intermediate Sharai connection and the return towards Minsk. Current signs and a safe permitted side are unconfirmed. Establish a separate permissible connection before departure; if this cannot be done, omit the affected section or finish earlier. A historical brevet proposal does not prove present access. Dismount at the Sharai pedestrian crossing and negotiate its stairs with the bicycle. Road surfaces predominate elsewhere, but local connections and monument approaches vary in condition. Stop clear of traffic beside churches, mills and memorials. View old buildings in Kievec, Gorodok and Girevichi from outside without entering beneath deteriorating floors or roofs. Dubrovo’s distillery and spirit store belong to private grounds: this ride includes an exterior roadside encounter, without entry.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 18 h 40 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The original cycling proposal was a one-day brevet for prepared participants; the exact duration of an independent touring ride with stops is unverified. The former control deadline is not a ready timetable. Useful preparation groups are Skirmantovo–the Ivenets side–first Rakov; Kievec and Malaya Lyutinka; Sharai–Kholkhlovo–Gorodok; then Dubrovo–Girevichi–eastern Rakov and the return. Accommodation, food, support and early finishing arrangements are not organised. If dividing the journey is necessary, arrange them separately without assuming a particular number of days.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a dry, warm day with sufficient daylight and moderate wind. Wind changes the effort on exposed roads, and viewing numerous places requires spare time before darkness. Check local connections and stairs separately in spring and autumn. Winter suitability of the entire loop is unconfirmed. Weather planning does not replace checks of current admission on fast-road sections.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода

Drinking water, food until confirmed supplies and protection from rain and wind.
