Route description

Above the Borjomi visitor centre, this woodland path offers a compact introduction to the national park. This version starts at the upper junction: it first circles the wooded slope containing the St Nino church site, returns to the familiar junction and then descends towards the visitor-centre approach. Pause among the trees at the church site to examine the surviving remains without stepping onto unstable edges. During the descent, the proximity of woodland to the town street becomes especially clear. The ascent from the centre to this upper start needs its own allowance; register with the park administration before visiting.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Public transport reaches Borjomi, but this version starts at a woodland junction above the visitor centre and requires a separate ascent. Uneven slopes need secure walking; the park’s official pet prohibition applies. Mobile signal is unconfirmed.

Nearby

Gogia Fortress and the town’s sulfur pools need separate walks in other Borjomi directions. They are outside this forest circuit. After registration, the visitor centre can help select a longer park continuation.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The official park page lists minibuses from Tbilisi through Didube and a rail connection to Borjomi. Check current departures with the operator. First walk to the visitor centre on Meskheti Street for registration, then make the separate ascent to the selected woodland junction.
By car
The administration identifies the visitor centre on Meskheti Street. Agree a vehicle drop-off at the centre; vehicle access to the upper woodland start is unconfirmed. Allow separately for the ascent before this selected descent.
Parking
At present, there is no confirmed parking information for this outing. Ask the administration about vehicle storage beforehand; do not leave a car on the woodland approach without agreement.

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 168 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The woodland slope and descent are steep in places, with slippery wet ground and leaves. The upper junction is revisited; check which exit descends towards the centre. Proximity to town does not make this a stroller walk.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 1–1.5 h
With stops | 1.5–2 h This covers the forest circuit from the upper junction and descent to the visitor-centre approach. The ascent to this start is excluded. Allow 2–3 hours, registration and extra reserve on wet paths for the complete outing from the centre and back.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Spring and autumn offer changing woodland foliage, while early hours suit summer outings. Choose dry footing. Snow and ice change the demands of this short descent; check current access when registering.

Grippy footwear for damp woodland slopes.
Water, a small snack and lightweight waterproofs.
