Route description

From the Akhaldaba area, the walk enters Nedzvi’s protected woodland and climbs towards Patara Karta. Shuano shelter stands on the mountain side, while the valley return passes beside Saint George Church. These specific places give the outing its rhythm: leave the inhabited valley, spend time above and return through the woodland with a separate church stop. Choose a night beforehand and give the mountain and valley sections their own days. Access to the shelter and its availability must be agreed separately; nearby summits are not automatically visited.

Nearby

Didi Karta and Shuano’s summit stand near the mountain section, but their precise top points are not established stops on this version. Visiting the ancient Nedzvi monastery requires a separate location and approach check: do not confuse it with Saint George Church beside this line. Borjomi and its sulfur pools belong to a separate day after returning.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 1773 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 1%, Unknown 100%.
Риски Two mountain days require energy reserves for ascents and a prolonged descent. Wet forest paths become slippery and fog complicates upper junctions. Do not bypass an unknown crossing by entering the river. Check the shelter approach, water and the complete valley return during registration.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 12–16 h
With stops | 2 days Allow 2 days of walking for the full outing from the Akhaldaba area through the mountain section and back along the Nedzvi side. Agree the first stage and a possible Shuano-area night during registration, leaving the second day for the remaining mountain passage and valley return. A hut requires booking. The two ends lie in one area but are different points; settle the final vehicle approach separately.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Summer and early autumn suit an agreed overnight mountain plan. Choose a settled forecast: the open upper section and wooded return respond differently to rain. Snow and ice require separate winter preparation.
