Route description

Confirm permission for the older Kharginsky Forest itinerary with the Active Recreation Centre: the current list does not establish it as a separately open excursion. This return leads from deeper woodland on Aibga’s northern side towards Verkhneye Lake. Kharginskoye Lake lies along the forest section, and the finish passes recognisable resort places: the Deer Farm and Shishin Dvor. The contrast is appealing after the quieter wooded road, with optional animal and farm visits if their separate excursions operate that day.

Route at a glance

Once access is confirmed, this section connects Aibga’s quieter forest side with Rosa Khutor’s lively lakeshore. Shishin Dvor adds a story of mountain household traditions and farming; the Deer Farm offers a separate encounter with its residents. Visits are not automatically included in the walk. Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Reaching the deep-forest start adds a separate approach and a substantial effort. Children need adults and a complete day plan agreed with a guide. Dog admission to the forest section is unconfirmed; pets are not admitted to the Deer Farm. Continuous mobile coverage is unconfirmed. Hunting dog breeds are prohibited in the national park; the park recommends leaving other pets at home too. Check any additional rules for the specific outing with the operator.

Nearby

Husky Khutor lies outside this section and needs a separate approach and visit. The named Kharginsky Waterfall is also excluded from the stop list: the main road is beside, rather than at, the fall, and its additional approach is not confirmed within this version. It should not be confused with a different unnamed waterfall near the distant forest end.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 184 м.
SurfaceGravel 92%, Asphalt 1%.
Риски The remote forest section may be damp or obstructed, so check permission and the entire path condition before setting off. The older operator document also mentions a border zone; confirm current document requirements with the resort. Do not assume boarding at the lower Wolf Rock station is possible without checking its operating mode.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 h 8 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow about three to four hours for the return section to Verkhneye Lake with pauses. Reaching the distant forest start adds a separate approach, so a complete day may take six to eight hours and needs guide agreement. The archived six-to-seven-hour estimate refers to a different full programme with approach and transport. Farm excursions take additional time.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a snow-free summer or early autumn day without heavy rain after confirming this older forest section. Opening of neighbouring Lake Traverse does not prove access to the whole road. Woodland can stay damp after rain; autumn also requires a larger daylight margin.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Walking shoes for damp forest ground.
Rain protection, windproof jacket and a warm layer.
Water, food, small first-aid kit and insect repellent.
Charged phone with a saved map, national park permit and confirmed return arrangements.
