Route description

From Lagonaki, the walk crosses the Fisht–Oshten massif’s passes to Fisht Shelter, then reaches the Caucasus’s southern side and the Shakhe valley. This extended Thirty includes returns along familiar upper paths and continues beyond the reserve exit towards Solokhaul. Zmeinoye Lake, Guzeripl and Armyansky passes introduce the open uplands, while Belorechensky and Cherkessky mark the transition to a wooded descent. Study Fisht’s massif from the permitted trail; climbing its summit is excluded. Beside the road in Solokhaul, Iuda Koshman’s estate and early local tea plantings introduce another story. The walk finishes in the valley, with onward travel to the sea arranged separately.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - Patchy Prearrange arrival at Lagonaki and the return from Solokhaul. The complete extended passage with repeated sections is unsuitable as an ordinary family walk. Pets are prohibited in the reserve. The operator reports partial coverage on the main direction, without guaranteeing it on extra branches.

Nearby

Fisht and Oshten summits, their glaciers and Psenodakh Lake require separate permitted outings and are not included merely through the Thirty name. Arrange interior museum access and any tea visit at Koshman’s estate separately. Reach the Black Sea coast by onward travel from the valley.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
A regular service directly to this northern Lagonaki start and a confirmed timetable from the Solokhaul finish are unestablished. The reserve requires independently organised arrival and departure. Arrange both deliveries in advance, allowing for the opposite sides of the massif.
By car
Separate vehicle delivery is required to the northern start at the Lagonaki checkpoint, included in the reserve’s logistics. Private vehicle passage across the mountain passes is unconfirmed. Arrange collection at this Solokhaul finish rather than a different reserve exit.
Parking
Specific permitted long-stay vehicle parking at the northern start is unconfirmed. Ask the checkpoint about conditions before leaving a car, and arrange how to return to it from the southern side.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 2915 м.
SurfaceGravel 4%, Dirt 1%, Unknown 95%.
Риски Upland fog, pass thunderstorms and wet woodland descents require time margins. Avoid karst holes and Fisht’s glaciers without separate preparation and authorisation. Include extra upper return passages in the agreed itinerary. Camp only at permitted sites. The reserve reported frost and wet snow in October 2026; a summer opening does not guarantee safe conditions now.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 1 d 1 h
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow 5–6 days for the extended outing with upper returns and the Solokhaul continuation. Day 1 — Lagonaki and agreed upper sections, overnight at authorised Instruktorskaya Shchel. Day 2 — finish upper passages through the Zmeinoye area and passes to Fisht Shelter. Day 3 — reserve time at the shelter for an approved return outing or poor weather. Day 4 — Belorechensky and Cherkessky passes, descending to authorised Babuk-Aul. Day 5 — leave the reserve and continue down the valley to Solokhaul; split this over two days if necessary, with a lawful overnight stop agreed beforehand. The official main programme gives 2–5 days, without automatically covering all repeated branches or this finish. Finalise daily stages with a guide.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
The operator generally gives June–October, with exact dates governed by orders. All Thirty variants and their camps opened on 24 June 2026; check current restrictions and snow before an autumn outing. Stable summer weather after passes clear is preferable, with adequate daylight.
