Route description

This longer mountain version begins at Instructor Gap in upper Armenka. It crosses internal Lago-Naki upland sides, includes Psenodakh’s shore, then Maikop Pass and the western direction towards Cherkessky Pass. Some upper paths repeat, so the selected sequence is not a simple standard shelter-to-shelter crossing. The lake’s mountain basin and changing sides of the massif are the natural interests; summit ascents are excluded. The older Through Waterfall Shelter name does not mean a Pshekhsky Waterfall visit, which needs its own branch. Present complete western permission is unconfirmed: an older official answer closed Waterfall locality–Cherkessky, without a later primary reopening found. Agree the exact passage, approved nights, high approach and pass finish before travelling. The southern Babuk Aul or sea descent is excluded.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - No By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data The start is already in upper Armenka after an independent approach; the finish remains at a high pass. Children need substantial mountain experience and an agreed multi-day plan, currently absent. Dogs are prohibited. The complete mountain version is unsuitable for an ordinary bicycle or stroller; continuous reception is unconfirmed.

Nearby

Pshekhsky Waterfall requires its own western branch and is excluded as a confirmed stop. Fisht Shelter and Fisht-Oshten Pass belong to another bypass side. Fisht/Pshekha-Su summits, caves and the onward Babuk Aul or Black Sea descent require independent permitted mountain plans.

Getting there

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceDirt 29%, Gravel 1%, Unknown 71%.
Риски Resolve present western permission first. The older Waterfall locality–Cherkessky closure cannot be ignored or assumed removed because a path exists. Agree the entire repeated sequence, nights and high finish before arranging the outing. Secure footing and visibility matter on mountain slopes; some current path descriptions indicate poor visibility. Avoid the waterfall-sign branch without separate approval or unapproved lakeside nights. Autumn snow and ice may change the passes.

How much time to allow

Time for the route | Unestablished With stops | Unestablished Complete multi-day duration is unestablished: current permission, approved connections and independent travel beyond the high finish are needed. A day-by-day plan is not established. Older sea-route schedules and application-form nights do not apply. Agree exact approved overnight sites and the complete exit with the reserve before travelling.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
An ordinary mountain passage requires snow-free ground, a settled weather window and confirmed permission. Exact seasonal dates are regulated by the reserve. Its early October 2026update warns of frost and wet snow; check individual route-card and western restrictions separately. An open lower road does not establish complete winter pass access.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Mountain footwear, warm layers and wind/rain protection.
Water and food reserves for the agreed multi-day outing, headlamp, first aid and repeated-junction map.
Identification, exact-route/overnight permit and communication; sleeping equipment only for approved places.
