Route description

Big Tkhach gradually rises above the woodland approaches from Novoprokhladnoye. The walk first reaches Taywan Meadow, then continues towards Shestakov Meadow and the massif’s southern side. Ossetian and Tkhach passes lead back towards the high ridge and the familiar wooded approaches. The limestone walls change shape around each turn, while open meadows let you take in the massif as a whole. Vetreny Hut provides a recognisable landmark among the mountain paths. This complete circuit includes several repeated passages and finishes in the village; it comes close to Big Tkhach’s summit, but reaching the highest point needs a separate plan. An unhurried journey reveals both the mountain’s rocky character and the long woodland roads linking it to Novoprokhladnoye.

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Arrange delivery to Novoprokhladnoye, then begin the independent walking approach. The complete tent-based hike, passes and repeated passages are not recommended as an ordinary children’s outing. Current dog rules and continuous coverage are unconfirmed. The high paths are unsuitable for stroller use or riding the complete itinerary.

Nearby

Big Tkhach’s highest point is close to the high circuit, but its separate approach is not automatically included. Little Tkhach’s summit, Shestakov Hut and Mankin Shum Waterfall also require separate deviations. Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Open passes and the ridge require stable weather and confident navigation. Avoid continuing beside rock-wall edges in fog, thunderstorms, snow or ice. Woodland roads may become muddy and difficult after rain. The conservation centre states that fires are prohibited throughout the park. Cabins and huts are not intended for tourist accommodation: tents may be placed beside them or on specified meadows, subject to current rules. The neighbouring Caucasus Reserve’s boundary requires separate authorisation.

A day-by-day plan for this complete multiday version is not established. It includes the woodland approach from Novoprokhladnoye, Taywan, Shestakov Meadow, Ossetian and Tkhach passes, the Vetreny area and the return through Taywan to the village. Agree the number of walking days and overnight stays with a guide after reviewing all repeated passages, paths and water. The conservation guide describes mountain outings beginning at Taywan, so their durations cannot be transferred to the complete village approach. Camp only on designated permitted meadows; huts are not tourist accommodation.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Prefer stable summer weather after the passes become snow-free. The government source recommends late spring or summer, but verify actual snow on each high section. The lower road is difficult in autumn and winter, and rain or fog may follow a bright morning. Check current park access and restrictions before departure.
