Route description

From Skogadalsbøen’s green valley surroundings, the path climbs into Uradalen and reaches the rocky shores of Uradalsvatnet. Neighbouring Uranostind helps convey the scale of the high mountains without becoming a summit objective. Beyond the lake, the landscape gradually changes and Bygdin’s western side appears, with Fondsbu at Eidsbugarden. Take time at the finish: the lodge is known for local-produce cooking and a lively mountain-house atmosphere. This complete version retraces part of the passage, so familiar junctions and lake approaches belong in the overall plan. With overnight arrangements confirmed, the walking journey connects two distinct settings: a wooded valley and a great mountain lake.

Route suitability

Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - With caution By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Reaching Skogadalsbøen needs a separate walking approach, while Fondsbu publishes summer transport connections for the finish. The complete mountain passage and repeated sections are not recommended as an ordinary children’s outing. Dogs are permitted under local leash rules; agree accommodation at both lodges. Riding or stroller use is not recommended throughout the rocky high sections. Continuous coverage is unconfirmed.

Nearby

Uranostind stands beside the mountain passage, but an ascent requires an independent technical plan. Kvitevatnet and other neighbouring lakes’ shores are not added as visited places in this version. Continuing from Fondsbu towards Tyinholmen and Slettningsbu is MASSIV’s next stage rather than this outing’s finish. The M/S Bitihorn journey is a separate seasonal boat option after the walking finish.

SurfaceCompacted dirt 2%, Unknown 98%.
Риски The Uradalsbandet ascent and rocky Uradalsvatnet section require steady footing, spare energy and visibility. Avoid leaving the marked path towards neighbouring peaks in snow or fog. Check seasonal bridges and stream conditions with the lodges beforehand. Fondsbu and Skogadalsbøen operate in different seasons: do not assume meals or an open door without confirmation. Respect reindeer, grazing areas and camping rules; road-specific electric-bike exceptions do not automatically apply to the entire mountain passage.

A day-by-day plan for this complete multiday version with repeated passages is not established. The operator describes the standard Skogadalsbøen–Fondsbu passage as especially demanding and estimates about 8–10 hours, while the additional returns need separate staging. Agree walking days and camps after assessing the complete outing, weather and water. Add the independent approach to the remote start and the wait for verified transport after finishing. The full MASSIV programme cannot be applied to this individual section.
