Route description

From the entrance rock wall near Hafelekar, the protected route heads west along the Nordkette ridge. Section 1 crosses Seegrubenspitze, the three Kaminspitzen and Kemacher before descending to Langer Sattel. This is the first official exit or the continuation into section 2, across the grassy ridge towards Eastern and Western Sattelspitze. The selected direction ends on the rock side beside Frau Hitt; reaching the marked exit and descending to Seegrube require separate planning. High views accompany technical passages, so stop only where you can maintain protection without obstructing others. This variant includes both sections and needs a full day, stable weather and via ferrata experience. The Hafelekar station approach is outside the rock crossing.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Operating lifts provide Hafelekar arrival followed by a separate entrance approach. This technical crossing requires an experienced person with a protection set and does not suit an ordinary outing with children or a dog. A bicycle or stroller is unsuitable. Continuous ridge reception is unconfirmed.

Nearby

The official first-section descent uses Kärtnersteig, and the second uses Schmidhubersteig; both need independent timing. Hafelekarspitze, Brandjoch and other summits outside the protected sequence are not part of this crossing.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The operator identifies arrival via Hungerburg and Seegrube to Hafelekar station, followed by a separate walk to the entrance wall. Check all three lifts and their final descents; the protected-path finish is not at your return station.
By car
Vehicle arrival connects Rennweg at Altstadt with the onward lift journey. Cars do not reach the ridge; after the western finish, add the walking descent to your chosen return point.
Parking
The operator confirms paid Innen STADT Garage on Kaiserjägerstraße. Concession terms depend on the ticket and cashier validation. City parking does not replace checking the last downhill lift after the ridge crossing.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The operator rates the route B/C with local C/D passages. A helmet, harness, via ferrata set and competent protection skills are necessary, together with sure-footedness and a head for heights. There are no official emergency descents between the Langer Sattel and Frau-Hitt-Sattel exits. Do not enter with thunderstorm risk. Adjacent climbing lines are not walking bypasses of the protected route.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route About 6 h
With stops | 7–8 h The operator’s allowance covers both sections and adds about 1.5 hours for descent. Add the Hafelekar entrance approach separately. The ordinary October last Seegrube descent is 17:30; lengthy stops can prevent that return, so agree the complete day and a permitted exit beforehand.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry snow-free rock and stable weather. The operator currently announces the via ferrata open, which does not guarantee conditions on your date. Postpone for ice or thunderstorm forecasts. Lift revision closure is November 2–19, 2026.

Базовый список для комфортного похода
