Route description

From the forest side of Hungerburg, this variant reaches Arzler Alm before turning towards the steep Arzler Scharte scree ascent. Woodland gives way to stony passages that require sure-footedness and stamina for a sustained climb. At the col, cross the ridge and continue towards Pfeishütte’s exterior. The lower portion includes repeated passages; agree the forest-branch sequence before starting. The finish remains in the mountains beyond the col, without a return descent to Hungerburg. This is an experienced mountain walker’s outing rather than an ordinary walk from an operating lift. Pfeishütte’s staffed season ended on October 4, 2026; its emergency shelter is for emergencies only and cannot be used for a planned overnight stay.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Public arrival serves the lower Hungerburg side, but the finish beyond the col needs an independent return. Steep scree requires an experienced mountain walker and does not suit an ordinary outing with children or a dog. Cycling is prohibited on part of the paths; a stroller is unsuitable. Continuous reception is unconfirmed.

Nearby

Hafelekar and the complete Goetheweg require other approaches and are not included in this ascent. Rumer Spitze and other rocky destinations around Pfeis are separate climbs. A nearby emergency shelter does not make it an additional visitor attraction.

Риски Steep route-217 scree requires mountain boots, sure-footedness and good fitness. Avoid dislodging stones onto people below, stay on the marked passage and postpone for snow, ice or unstable weather. Do not treat the hut as guaranteed staffed support for the return: its emergency shelter is permitted only in an emergency.
