Route description

This expanded Kokkorevsky Reserve outing begins on the northern approach near former Ladozhets Camp. The Road of Life Defenders Memorial stands nearby before the route continues to woodland memorial objects and nature boards. Pine sections give way to the lakeside near Sosnovets, while a western branch adds a separate wetland-themed excursion. Some familiar paths are followed again on the return. Two connected stories run through the outing. The Fortification Memorial and naval battery board recall the Ladoga shore’s wartime history. The Coastal Ridges History Board draws attention to landscape features easily missed on a casual forest walk. Other actual boards introduce wetlands, plants, amphibians and reptiles. Explore them slowly, comparing interpretation with the woodland around you. Ladoga appears in the southern shore section, with woodland and wet ground between water impressions. Explore the reserve without expecting a particular bird encounter or tower visit. Before setting off, check current direction signs, return passage along the common approach and western-branch access. Follow permitted paths back to the northern beginning.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
A local operator identifies rail and bus arrival in the Kokkorevo area; check services and the separate approach. Children need adult supervision and readiness for the expanded forest outing. Ground, sand and the western branch make the entire version unsuitable for a stroller. Full cycling permission, dog rules and uninterrupted reception are unestablished.

Nearby

The birdwatching tower lies away from the selected passage; assess its independent approach and condition separately. The Shimpalatovskoye Lake trail and pier belong to another version. Kokkorevo leisure bases, food, sauna and beach services have separate conditions and are not included. Other Road of Life memorials and museums outside this passage require separate travel.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
A local accommodation operator identifies Finland Station trains towards Lake Ladoga, stopping at Vaganovo, followed by bus 602 to Kokkorevo or separately arranged transport. Confirm operating services, the stop and return journey before travelling. Village arrival requires an independent permitted approach to the northern beginning by former Ladozhets Camp; direct delivery there is unconfirmed.
By car
Approach from Kokkorevo to the northern roadside by former Ladozhets Camp identified by the Directorate, continuing on foot along a permitted route. This selected outing returns to its northern beginning, but check current entrances and passage directions beforehand. Motorised movement is prohibited in the reserve; forest paths, shore and western branch are not vehicle approaches.
Parking
The Directorate identifies leaving a car near former Ladozhets Camp. This is a northern-approach reference rather than guaranteed space on any date. Confirm the specific permitted location, entry, payment and availability separately. Avoid parking in restricted protected land, beside the water or on woodland passages.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceDirt 61%, Sand 9%, Compacted dirt 2%, Unknown 29%.
Риски Check current direction signs and repeat-passage arrangements: the expanded version includes a common approach and western branch. Rain brings puddles, wet sand and slippery boardwalks. Avoid wetland shortcuts, unstable shore edges and approaching nests. Account for wind beside the lake; water access does not establish a swimming place. Reserve rules prohibit fires, tents, camping and collecting forest resources. Observe memorial structures without entering unprotected cavities. Keep children close on wet and shore sections.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 h 29 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Time for the route | Unestablished With stops | Unestablished Overall time for the expanded outing is unestablished: confirm western-branch access, current direction and return along the common approach first. Boards, memorial places and shore pauses affect pace. Add village-stop approaches and transport waiting separately. A short estimate for the principal trail omits this version’s additional branches.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
The principal trail is mainly intended for snow-free visits. Choose daylight for the expanded outing and check puddles, boardwalk condition and western access. Rain and wet autumn surfaces require care, while winter needs a separate accessibility assessment. During nesting periods, keep quiet and stay on paths; bird encounters depend on season and chance.

What to bring

Wind/rain protection and an additional warm layer.
Drinking water, food and a bag for your litter.
Phone with an offline map, battery reserve and torch.
