Route description

On Spruce Hills, a short outing becomes a walk through different levels of woodland. From the eastern entrance the path reaches the northern side of Toksovo Heights, continues through western and southern sections and returns through conifer forest. Sandy rises lift you above wet hollows, followed by another descent beneath tall spruces. The setting rewards attention: old conifers, moss-covered ground and terrain shaped by glacial processes. Start exploring the hills’ origin at the Kame Terrain board. Find the small Ladybird and Owl artworks, then pause beside interpretation about water plants, birds and the forests of Toksovo Heights. This loop covers several sides of the trail, so allow time for rises and reading. It suits walkers interested in woodland who are ready for ground paths, roots and uneven slopes. Observe nature without collecting plants, lighting fires or disturbing forest life.

Toksovo Heights natural monument protects conifer woodland, sandy hills and wet hollows. Raspberry Hill in Toksovsky Nature Park is a separate trail. The Kavgolovo shore on the other side of the railway also needs an independent safe approach; avoid turning this woodland loop into an unauthorised railway crossing.

Without a car
The protected-area authority recommends a train from Finland Station to Kavgolovo platform, followed by an independent approach to the eastern entrance near Shkolnaya Street. This selected beginning lies slightly east of the official entrance position. Check stopping patterns and timetables before travel; cross the railway only at permitted places.
By car
The official road approach runs through Toksovo along Leningradskoye Highway and Sovetov Street, then Shkolnaya Street to Tupikovy Lane. Continue on foot from the roadside. The selected loop returns to its beginning. Driving into the woodland and parking outside permitted spaces are prohibited.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. A current permitted space serving this selected beginning is unestablished. Find out where parking is permitted and prepare the Shkolnaya Street approach. Do not assume a forest verge is a parking space.
