Route description

Voinovo to Zapolitsy via Ostrets and Kalinov Bridge is a summer walking passage through Meshchera, gradually exchanging woodland roads for lakesides, former peat workings and wet hollows. Ostrets appears in the first lake section; pine rises then lead through the western woodland corridor of Krutovsky Nature Reserve. Kalinov Bridge stands among broad drainage ditches, followed by the Senga after a long eastern passage. A substantial stone church marks the emergence at Stary Pokrov. The Gribchikha side and Ananyeva Hill then connect with the southern woodland continuation towards Zapolitsy. Prepare this as an independent multi-day outing with overnight places and water chosen beforehand. Springs and neighbouring lakes need separate decisions, while the protected section’s conditions should be checked before travelling.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
For prepared independent walkers carrying multi-day equipment and having water passages resolved. The author allows a summer cycling version with sandy-riding skill, but paths and crossings need their own assessment. Complete suitability for children and dogs is unestablished; do not plan the whole woodland outing with a stroller.

Nearby

Gorbatoye Lake, Akhtyrsky Spring and its bathing pool, Aryushina Hill’s summit and the lake near Zapolitsy belong to separate branches. Visits, swimming, water and rest places are not automatically included. Lakes Svetets and Olenye lie elsewhere in Krutovsky Nature Reserve. An October 2026 reorganisation proposal is under discussion: check adopted rules and designated visitor places before travelling, rather than proposed permissions.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Starting Voinovo halt is on the Gorkovsky direction; finishing Zapolitsy is on the Kazansky direction. Choose present train calls on both lines and authorised platform approaches. The beginning is at Voinovo’s far end, with the finish on Zapolitsy’s western side. A Gribchikha bus exit needs a separate approach and checked present service; it cannot replace the planned ending.
By car
Arrange delivery on the Voinovo side and collection after the Zapolitsy finish separately. If a car remains at the start, decide the return for it from the other railway direction beforehand. Woodland vehicle support is unconfirmed; driving and parking outside public roads are prohibited within the reserve.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Agree longer vehicle storage for the outing and an authorised approach to the starting or finishing side before travelling.

What to expect

Places
Ostrets lake group The passage follows lakes in the former peat workings. Pause at your own shoreside approach; swimming and water safety need a separate check.
Krutovsky Nature Reserve You pass through the western woodland of protected Meshchera. Pine rises adjoin wet hollows; lakes elsewhere in the reserve are outside this passage.
Kalinov Bridge The named metal bridge among broad drainage ditches is a distinctive woodland passage. Assess its present structure before crossing.
Senga at the woodland crossing The small river appears after a long woodland section. Check an authorised present crossing separately; a former beaver dam cannot guarantee safe passage.
Intercession Church in Stary Pokrov The stone church greets the passage out of extensive woodland. The main path offers an exterior view; arrange the parish and Akhtyrsky Spring separately.
Ananyeva Hill The upper part of the ski passage reaches a clearing corridor. Choose a pause here before the further woodland direction towards Zvorkovo.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 195 м.
SurfaceDirt 31%, Sand 19%, Asphalt 3%, Unknown 44%.
Риски Assess drainage ditches, Malaya Senga and Senga passages for today’s water and crossing condition. Historic boardwalks and a beaver dam cannot guarantee safe passage. Tall grass, sand and wet ground change pace; a road passage near Gribchikha requires attention to traffic. Waymarks may be missing. Follow the protected section’s present rules and do not light fires on peat. Former tourist clearings do not establish a permitted overnight place today.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 16 h 51 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The author suggests two–three days for the complete walking outing. A day-by-day plan is not established. First select authorised overnight places, water and present crossings, then divide your multi-day passage from Voinovo through the lakes, protected woodland, Stary Pokrov and Gribchikha to Zapolitsy. Complete moving time is unknown; separate spring and lake visits need their own reserve.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
This version is the main summer passage with a wet-area bypass near Gribchikha. Dry weather helps assess sandy roads and grassy paths but cannot guarantee safe crossings. Wet periods can bring mud and flooding. The winter ski passage near Gribchikha has another continuation and should not be substituted into the summer plan.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Reliable walking footwear for sand, tall grass and wet passages, with poles for your own experience.
Equipment for agreed overnight places, rain protection, warmth and light.
Your own food and drinking-water reserve; Akhtyrsky Spring replenishment needs a separate visit and water-quality check.
A map of every crossing and the chosen ending, plus a phone with reserve power.
Seasonal insect protection, first aid and a cooking method respecting present fire restrictions.
