Route description

Spend a cycling day near Biysk between a broad river and a quieter lake. This ride explores the Biya–Katun interfluve from the Ust-Katun side: its western section approaches the Biya, while the eastern section reaches Lake Kanonerskoye. The river offers open water scenery; the lake gives the ride a more intimate pause and a chance to choose an unhurried stopping place. Dirt roads link the two water landscapes. Enjoy the change of pace: ride across the interfluve, linger beside the water and continue when the next stretch starts to appeal. Choose accessible banks and respect fences and occupied areas. A dry day suits this outing best, leaving more attention for your surroundings and less for every rut in the road.

Ride with waterside stops | Keep half a day free Allow time for both the Biya and Lake Kanonerskoye, and ride the dirt roads at a pace that suits you. If travelling from Biysk or checking the approach for the first time, add a margin for transport and return arrangements. Shorten stops if road conditions slow your progress.
