Route description

The Wolf Trail explores the wooded hills of Chinetinsky Nature Sanctuary in Krasnoshchyokovsky District. This part of the Altai reveals itself gradually: small woods give way to meadow slopes, and each numbered lookout offers another pause in the hill circuit. Viewpoints No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 mark its eastern and southern side; Maralyi Rozhki adds a named stop on the western return. Beyond the open slopes, the walk enters woodland beside Pryamukha Stream. The northern access finishes towards Generalka, near the Yarovka valley. If setting out from the village, agree the approach to the wooded circuit and the return arrangements with the sanctuary inspector beforehand. A guide who can identify birds and signs of wildlife adds another dimension to the walk; sightings of large mammals remain a matter of chance.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - No By bike - No data With a stroller - No Mobile signal - Patchy Best suited to walkers comfortable spending a full day away from settlements. Children need experience of long walks. This is a walking trail with uneven natural ground. Dogs are prohibited in the sanctuary, and reliable mobile reception should not be assumed.

Nearby

The Bear Trail is a separate outing from Generalka. The Strazh Larch, Orlinaya Viewpoint and caves of the Nebo plateau belong to that itinerary and need their own plan. Bolshaya Pryamukhinskaya Cave also lies outside this walk; an underground visit requires an agreed approach and suitable supervision. Ask about accommodation at the Chinetinsky visitor camp in advance if you would like to spread the journey over two days.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Buses provide access to Krasnoshchyokovo. Arrange the onward journey to Generalka and the return transfer in advance with local transport providers or the sanctuary inspector. Allow time between connections. A scheduled service directly to the wooded trail entrance has not been confirmed.
By car
The approach from Barnaul is organised via Kharlovo; the final road to Generalka requires a vehicle with good off-road capability. Ask the inspector about the dirt road after rain. With an ordinary passenger car, arrange onward transport from an accessible village once you have established the current road conditions.
Parking
Vehicle storage can be arranged in Kharlovo, Chineta or Krasnoshchyokovo, including with a guesthouse host. Agree the exact location, duration and conditions beforehand. A designated public car park beside the wooded start of the Wolf Trail has not been confirmed.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 258 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The length of the outing and its distance from settlements deserve attention even though the trail is promoted as an easy walk. Rain can leave soil and grass slippery on woodland descents. Tell the inspector your plan and group size before departure, and report your return. Ask sanctuary staff about recent trail conditions, ticks and bear activity before setting out.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 5 h 23 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Keep a full day for the walk and start in the morning. The organisers suggest around six hours for the usual Wolf Trail, but the village approach, stops at every lookout and current ground conditions need additional allowance. Agree transfer times separately and assess the remaining daylight before committing to the southern section.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
The advertised season runs from May to October. Late spring brings flowering slopes, summer gives time to explore the woodland and meadows, and autumn changes the colours of the smaller woods. Choose dry weather for a first visit. At either end of the season, check the access road and available daylight especially carefully.

Water and food for a full day
