Route description

Begin on the shore opposite Baklany Stone, then follow the trail towards Sinichka. The islet’s rocky top rises separately from Baikal’s mainland and sets the walk’s character immediately. Observe it from the mainland shore: water travel, landing on the rock and an ice approach are outside this walking outing. Pause beside the lake before continuing north. The coastal trail then rounds a land projection and follows the lake’s wooded side. The appeal comes from changing shore views, the islet beside the route and Baikal’s proximity. Sinichka Bay provides a separate lakeside stopping place near the ending. This is an independent crossing between two coastal sides. It does not finish at Peschanaya Bay or include Observation Rock, the Bell Tower formations or Babushka Bay. Prepare the southern approach and onward return beforehand, and check current park admission and the selected trail’s condition.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - No data By bike - No data With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data For walkers comfortable on an uneven coastal trail. With children, select calm weather, supervise lakeside movement and settle return arrangements beforehand. The crossing’s short length does not establish easy access from a settlement. Complete cycling passage, dog admission and reliable reception are independently unestablished. A stroller is unsuitable for the natural path; assistance and drinking water throughout are unconfirmed.

Nearby

Peschanaya Bay, the Small and Great Bell Tower formations, Babushka Bay and Observation Rock belong to different extensions of the local walking network. This version excludes them. Add an independent approach, permitted-passage checks and a return plan for each extra place. The official guide identifies Sinichka as a separate bay on the Great Baikal Trail’s northern section. That establishes geography without confirming current services at this precise ending; agree camping with the park independently. Baklany Stone is a recognised islet associated with historic bird nesting. Observe from land; colony composition and bird presence vary. Older accounts of longer coastal journeys do not establish current prices, food, reception, hospitality or safe water passage.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Regular public transport directly to the southern start opposite Baklany Stone and from Sinichka is unconfirmed. Agree arrival in the area and an independent starting approach, followed by your onward return. Travelling to Peschanaya Bay does not resolve those connections: this version starts and finishes elsewhere. An informal departure from another shore place is unestablished.
By car
Ordinary-car access to the start and finish is unconfirmed. Plan personal vehicle travel to a separately agreed accessible place, followed by independent arrival in the coastal area. Avoid driving along this walking trail or seeking passage beside the water. Agree vehicle return and a change of meeting arrangements if weather worsens.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Choose lawful vehicle storage separately from the coastal walk. The shore opposite the islet, the trail and an old Sinichka camping location do not establish vehicle access. Include vehicle return in the broader travel plan.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 87 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Pay attention to stones, roots and lakeside ground along the uneven trail. Rain and icing change grip, while strong wind and waves can make a shore stop unsafe. Avoid replacing land passage with a wade around a coastal obstruction. Choose a separately agreed safe section or finish early if a usable connection is unconfirmed. Water separates Baklany Stone from the mainland. Walking observation means remaining on land: swimming to the islet, landing and going onto lake ice are outside this plan. Avoid disturbing birds or leaving food waste; their presence is never guaranteed. National park territory requires permission. Check the coastal direction’s status for your date and save documents in advance. Operating supplies, guaranteed accommodation and ready departure near Sinichka are unconfirmed. Agree communication, check-in timing and a return option before setting out.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 57 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow around an hour and a half as a preliminary estimate for an unhurried coastal crossing from the islet’s mainland side towards Sinichka, including stops. This planning allowance is not a verified completion time. Add the southern approach, shore observation, a bay stop and onward return independently. Walking back repeats the route, while an agreed departure can require a further approach. Timings for the complete Peschanaya-to-Buguldeyka journey do not establish this short version’s schedule. Finish with daylight reserves.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
A dry snow-free path, calm lake weather and valid park admission. Baikal can feel windier than the sheltered wooded side, so check water conditions before shore stops. After rain or during early icing, take particular care or postpone the walk. Fixed opening dates for this outing are unestablished. A winter ice excursion to the islet is an independent journey outside this walking version.
