Route description

From the Dyrovataya side, continue north beside Baikal. The start lies near Dyrovaty Stream, followed by the coastal path towards Black Cape and Shumikha. Small natural landmarks define the sequence: a projecting shore, a channel beside the lake and woodland along the following stage. Weather changes each lakeside stop, so choose observation ground according to actual shore conditions. The route includes the memorial to the crew of Akademik Shokalsky. It recalls the disaster of 2 August 1983, when the ship and seven crew members were lost near Krasny Yar. Pause respectfully at this place. Observe the memorial from land; searching for the sunken vessel or entering the lake is outside the walk. The remaining coastal section leads towards Khankhiltuy Stream, where this stage ends. The old designation Overnight Stop describes a former participant halt rather than an operating campsite, hut or accommodation. Confirm complete authorised land passage and safe stream connections before departure, and prepare onward return or an independently agreed next stage.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data For prepared walkers experienced in natural coastal paths and independent return arrangements. Participants need stability on uneven ground, stream-condition assessment and the ability to abandon an unconfirmed connection. The complete stage is unsuitable as a children’s visit to one memorial. Bicycles and strollers are outside the complete line’s plan. Dog admission, reliable reception, assistance and finishing supplies are independently unestablished.

Nearby

The rock formation called Dyrovataya or Arch is separate from the precise start. Its inclusion and visibility from this route are unestablished, so the arch is outside the confirmed attractions. Similar rock, bay and ranger-property names do not replace checking the correct approach independently. Krasny Yar is associated with the loss of Akademik Shokalsky. The memorial lies along this stage’s own coastal path; old ship accounts and family visits do not establish a present water excursion or delivery schedule. Shore-based remembrance and searching for a sunken ship are separate activities. The neighbouring Syksykhay channel and onward Buguldeyka continuation do not establish prepared exits from this stage. Independently agree overnight arrangements near Khankhiltuy, authorised camping and further supplies. The Dyrovataya ranger property does not promise unrestricted entry or reception.

Getting there

Without a car
Regular public transport directly to Dyrovataya and from the precise Khankhiltuy ending is unconfirmed. Agree independent arrival on the southern side and onward return after the coastal stage. An operating departure point or ready collection beside the stream is unestablished. Decide a meeting place, check-in timing and a response to interrupted passage before departure.
By car
Ordinary-car access to the start and ending is unconfirmed. Agree vehicle travel to a separate accessible place, followed by an independent approach into the coastal area. Avoid driving along the walking path or stream channels. Return to your parked vehicle needs an independent plan.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Check where vehicle storage is permitted before independently approaching the Dyrovataya area. Shore places, streams and a former overnight halt do not establish car access. Include return to your separately chosen location in the broader travel plan.

Shumikha Stream near Black Cape a channel beside the lake-side path; verify crossing conditions independently.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 239 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The natural coastal trail runs beside uneven slopes in places. Stones, loose ground, roots, fallen trees and waves require careful passage decisions. Avoid unfamiliar steep-slope shortcuts and wading around coastal obstructions. Quiet woodland does not guarantee calm conditions on the exposed lake side. Establish safe authorised passage beside Dyrovaty, Shumikha and Khankhiltuy independently. Present bridges, dry connections and constant water levels are unconfirmed. Avoid improvising at an unsuitable channel or uncertain connection: choose a prepared authorised section, finish early or abandon departure. Check current direction status and national park permission. Enter ranger property only through independent agreement. Respect the memorial and preserve its cleanliness. An old overnight name does not establish a hut or assistance; prepare water, food, communication and delay procedures beforehand.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 3 h 56 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The duration of this exact stage is unestablished. Its one-day classification does not automatically include delivery, return or accommodation at the ending. Calculate the Dyrovataya approach, travel towards Black Cape, stream passages, the memorial stop, remaining shore section and an exit from Khankhiltuy separately. Agree check-in timing and daylight reserves. An old overnight halt does not provide confirmed accommodation during delay. Continuing to Buguldeyka requires an independent schedule.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Snow-free conditions with a usable path, a settled Baikal forecast and confirmed stream connections. Rain changes stone grip and channel conditions; strong waves and early icing can make the shore unsuitable for your group. Fixed safe dates for the complete stage are unestablished. Check park admission for your dates. Winter travel over lake ice is an independent journey.
