Route description

From the northern side of Dry Bay, the route approaches Khargino along a rocky coastal line. Baikal accompanies the passage between a wooded slope and the stony margin, with stops chosen where the shore can be observed without obstructing the trail. Khargin provides the first named stream landmark before the journey continues towards two small Pesochna bays. Malaya Pesochna and Pesochna are separate coastal places north of the famous Peschanaya Bay. Distinguishing them is part of this walk’s appeal: its sequence of small bays offers individual shore stops beyond the main resort beach. Woodland returns between the bays, while Pesochny and Troshkin mark the following coastal sections. The northern ending lies near Dyrovataya and its named stream. Finish an independent coastal stage here or stop under a plan agreed beforehand. A view of Ark from the main trail is unguaranteed, while continuation towards Black Cape needs a separate outing. Retain time for the bays and prepare onward arrangements before reaching the ending.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
To discover the smaller bays between Dry Bay and Dyrovataya and distinguish the shore sections near Khargin, Pesochny and Troshkin. A rocky approach, woodland intervals and the Pesochna bays give this western Baikal stage its own character. Choose it for attentive coastal walking, with passage and return prepared beforehand.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data For prepared walkers familiar with uneven shore terrain who can establish safe complete passage beforehand. The rocky lower section is unsuitable as an easy outing with small children. Cycling and stroller travel are outside the complete version’s plan. Dog admission and reliable reception are independently unconfirmed. Full passage depends on coastal obstructions and prepared channel connections.

Nearby

The park publishes summer tent locations at Dry Bay, Khargino, Malaya Pesochna and Pesochna. Agree an authorised halt and bring your own equipment. Mapped pitches do not promise accommodation, food, shops or constant staffing. Ark near Dyrovataya is a separate rocky feature on this coastal side. A historical description warns that vegetation can hide it from the main trail. A guaranteed view, passage through the opening and a rock ascent are outside this version’s plan; arrange any independent safe viewing without approaching an unfamiliar drop. Distinguish Ark from Elephant Rock near Nizhniye Khomuty. Dry Bay lies south of the precise start, while Golden Cliff, Babushka and the main Peschanaya Bay belong to a different approach. The upper Khargin Gorge and Pykhtun crossing are outside this stage. Black Cape and the onward Buguldeyka route lie north of Dyrovataya and require separate preparation.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Regular public transport directly to Dry Bay’s northern side and from the Dyrovataya ending is unconfirmed. Arrange an independent starting approach and return after the northern exit. Bay and ranger-post names do not establish boarding on an operating service. Agree dates, a permitted meeting place and delay procedures before the walking stage.
By car
Ordinary-car access directly to either end of this coastal stage is unconfirmed. Independently prepare a permitted road location, your Dry Bay approach and return from Dyrovataya. Nearby forest roads and ranger-post labels do not establish vehicle access to the water. The coastal walking trail is unsuitable as a driving route.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Ask where vehicle storage is permitted before the Dry Bay approach and how to return after finishing near Dyrovataya. A tent location, coastal passage or ranger post does not establish an authorised vehicle space.

What to expect

Places
Khargin Stream a named channel on the Khargino coastal approach, without a separate upper-gorge excursion.
Malaya Pesochna Bay the small bay beyond Khargino, also known as Pesochka.
Pesochna Bay a separate following coastal place, distinct from Malaya Pesochna and the larger Peschanaya Bay.
Pesochny Stream the actual channel on the northern continuation, rather than a camp label.
Troshkin Stream the next named water landmark towards Dyrovataya.
Dyrovaty Stream the channel near the stage’s northern ending.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 405 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The initial Khargino approach uses the lower rocky side. Coastal obstructions, stones beside the water, loose slopes, roots and fallen trees need independent assessment. Waves or wet stone can make passage unsuitable. Establish every authorised section connection before setting out; choose a separately agreed safe version or finish early if a connection is unconfirmed. Avoid wading around an obstruction or seeking shortcuts across unfamiliar drops. Independently check crossings and water levels at Khargin, Pesochny, Troshkin and Dyrovaty. A stream name does not establish a prepared bridge, safe ford or drinking-water source. Prepare water for the agreed outing beforehand. Check current coastal direction status, obtain park permission and save it for display without internet access. Agree check-in messages and an early exit. Use authorised tent places without creating new pitches, remove rubbish and keep pollutants out of the water. A ranger post does not guarantee constant staffing or immediate assistance.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 3 h 58 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The exact duration of this one-day stage is unestablished. Calculate the approach to Dry Bay’s northern side, rocky Khargino section, stops at both Pesochna bays, confirmed stream connections and return after Dyrovataya. The timing of the longer Peschanaya to Buguldeyka scheme does not establish this version’s duration. Allow daylight reserves and agree check-in deadlines. Arrange any required overnight halt independently: the park publishes summer tent locations along this direction, without guaranteed equipment or available space.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Snow-free conditions with dry usable coastal passage, settled Baikal weather and prepared stream connections. Rain, high water, wind and waves change the rocky section’s usability. Exact safe dates for this lower version are independently unestablished. A year-round description of the wider tourism direction does not establish a winter ice repeat of this walking stage.
