Route description

The passage beyond Idol Rock begins among the stones, with the granite column’s large head setting the mood. The woodland direction then reaches Turtle Rock and Gorodishche, where natural shapes suggest an old settlement’s ruins. Farther from familiar Idol Rock, the forest approaches themselves require more attention than signs. The Shelekhov Rocks lie beyond Shirokiy Stream’s valley. They are best appreciated as a varied group: mossy walls, ledges and pines on stone offer a different character from Idol Rock’s solitary column. This version approaches several outcrops in the group and finishes on the woodland side. Reaching Idol Rock and leaving for transport are separate parts of the plan; the route does not begin at a platform.

Pizza Rock and Nika lie on neighbouring directions, with separate visits unconfirmed here. Starukha Rock, the Gornolyzhka huts and a spring from other club routes are not visited places or promised services in this version. Orlyonok approaches and a ski outing from Trudny are described separately and need independent checking. Gorodishche’s resemblance to ruins does not make it an archaeological monument. As checked on 14 October, local access conditions, water crossings, signal, services and a complete return are unknown.

Exact vehicle access is unconfirmed. The passage begins at a woodland outcrop rather than an accessible vehicle stop. Establish lawful arrival on a selected external side, a walking approach to Idol Rock and a return to the meeting point. Driving throughout the woodland direction is unconfirmed.

What to expect

Places
Idol Rock The starting rock destination: a pale-pink granite column with a large head and flat hat. Earlier walkers associated its shape with Easter Island’s idols. The approach reaches its base; a technical ascent is a separate activity.
Turtle Rock A distinctive natural outcrop east of Idol Rock. Its unusual structure makes this a worthwhile stop before the passage heads towards more distant groups. A safe approach to upper ledges is separately unconfirmed.
Gorodishche Rock Stone forms reminiscent of an old settlement’s ruins. The comparison describes a natural outcrop rather than a built town. The approach offers a look at its rock side; select the upper viewing platform separately after confirming safe access.
Shelekhov Rocks A group of varied outcrops in a taiga hollow beyond Shirokiy Stream. Mossy walls, weathered ledges and pines on stone give the setting its character. The passage approaches several rocks in the group, offering a comparison of their woodland-facing forms.
Shirokiy Stream A stream on the approach to the Shelekhov Rocks. Its wet valley separates the woodland approaches from the outcrop group. Check the present crossing and marshy ground beforehand.

Риски The author’s materials describe marshy ground, tussocks and water-filled holes in Shirokiy Stream’s valley. Check the present stream crossing and wet hollow; a nearby dry patch does not establish passage farther ahead. An obvious path to the Shelekhov Rocks is not guaranteed, and navigation among woodland and ledges requires experience. Visiting Idol Rock, Turtle Rock and Gorodishche does not include summit climbing. Select a complete exit from the final woodland section beforehand.

Timings for other club routes from Orlyonok or Trudny do not apply to this version. Allow a margin for finding passages, the wet valley and rock visits. Shorten progress towards the remote group if conditions exceed your preparation.

Dry autumn weather reveals the stone forms among woodland, but account for daylight in the complete plan. The source describes a different winter ski approach to the group; it does not establish a ski trail today, safe frozen marshes or winter passage along this walking version.
