Route description

The Bazayskaya circuit explores the southern side of the Torgashinsky Ridge. From the Zagorye allotment roads, the woodland path heads toward Ledyanaya Ice Cave and then reaches an open viewing area above the Bazaikha valley. The western section brings ordinary forest together with karst landforms. The cave lies beside the path, but an encounter with its entrance area does not turn the walk into an underground outing: viewing ice formations inside requires a separately prepared caving visit. The southern section reaches the Bazayskaya viewing area, also known as First Torgashinsky Viewpoint. In clear weather, take in the broad landscape: the Bazaikha valley below, wooded gullies, distant Stolby slopes and formations, and Abatak rising above the surroundings. Enjoy the panorama from a safe position on the path without searching for a place closer to a drop. The circuit then turns east and returns through woodland around Kochevnoy Gully to the same northern start. It offers a varied forest outing if you prepare the approach to Zagorye and keep strength for the return ascents. A separate approach connects the city bus with the woodland start.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
To combine the karst setting beside Ledyanaya Ice Cave with the Bazayskaya panorama. One side draws attention to woodland landforms; the other opens toward a broad valley and distant Stolby formations. On the return, the exposed southern setting gives way to more enclosed forest. It is a rewarding choice for a prepared walking outing returning to the original Zagorye side.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data A separate walk remains between the city bus and the forest start, followed by that approach on the return. The full outing suits people confident on sustained ascents and woodland descents. With a child, preparation, adult supervision and care around cave openings and drops matter. Dog conditions and complete cycling permission are unconfirmed; this is described as a walking outing. A stroller is unsuitable. The organiser reports Tele 2 reception, but current continuous coverage for every phone is unestablished.

Nearby

Compass Cave lies near the southern section, but its entrance requires a separate branch. Vertical sections inside make it an independent caving task. Goryachie Rocks lie below the viewing area and are not a visited circuit stop. Other Torgashinsky Ridge paths, including Karst, Speleologists and Health trails, can provide separate approaches while changing the complete day substantially. Krasnoyarsk Stolby National Park is seen across the valley; its own entrances and visiting rules belong to another outing.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The organiser’s verified arrangement does not identify a city bus directly to the woodland start. One option is Poligon: the organiser lists buses 27, 40, 40a and 40s, followed by a separate approach through the allotment side via Karst and Health trails to the green markings. Another starts at Nash Dvor, meaning Our Yard, served by listed buses 6, 8, 10 or 55, then continues through allotments and Speleologists Trail toward Karst and Health trails. Check present services, access through the allotments and the return beforehand. These approaches add to the complete outing and are outside the forest circuit.
By car
The organiser describes vehicle arrival through the Zagorye-1 allotments to the circuit’s northern side. Before travelling, check permitted driving, gates and a suitable drop-off. Continue around the forest circuit on foot; reaching the settled approach does not establish vehicle passage through the southern and lower sections. The Granite Quarry entrance to Krasnoyarsk Stolby serves a different woodland start.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Before travelling, establish whether vehicle storage is permitted on the settled Zagorye side for the entire outing. The organiser’s suggestion of a convenient place does not establish parking rights beside a particular allotment or gate. Keep roads, private entrances and the woodland access clear.

What to expect

Places
Ledyanaya Ice Cave the karst cave beside the western path. View the entrance area from a safe position; an underground visit needs specialist preparation.
Bazayskaya Viewpoint the circuit’s southern viewing area, also known as First Torgashinsky Viewpoint. In good weather, look across the Bazaikha valley, wooded gullies, Abatak and distant Stolby formations.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 251 м.
SurfaceDirt 51%, Compacted dirt 18%, Unknown 32%.
Риски Expect steep descents, sustained ascents and less obvious woodland passage in places. Check green markings at junctions with other routes and retain strength for the return climb. Rain makes ground and rock slippery; winter needs a separate check of ice and slope conditions. Stay on stable paths near cave funnels and drops. Descents into Ledyanaya and Compass caves are outside the ordinary walk: curiosity does not replace specialist preparation around underground entrances. Include the long external bus approach when judging the outing’s demands.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 2–2.5 hours
With stops | Unestablished The organiser gives this guide for the complete Bazayskaya circuit with suitable fitness. It excludes the walk between a city bus and the forest start, long viewing stops and separate caving visits. Plan arrival at the circuit, the circuit itself and the return to transport as three separate parts. Wet descents and poor visibility increase the time; keep a reserve rather than relying on the last bus.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
For a first visit, choose a dry snow-free day with clear valley views. Check soft ground in spring and after rain; the organiser warns of ticks in the warm season. Wet autumn leaves conceal stones, and the open viewing side cools quickly. A winter outing needs checks of snow, ice and the entire approach; cave ice is not an invitation to descend independently. Finish the woodland section in daylight.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Footwear with grip, woodland clothing, a layer for wind on the open slope and rain protection.
Drinking water and food allowing for the external approach; a verified refill supply is unestablished.
A junction map, charged phone with backup power and a headlamp.
Basic first-aid supplies, seasonal tick protection and a bag for all waste.
For the ordinary circuit, restrict viewing to a safe entrance-side position; underground equipment does not replace separate caving preparation.
