Route description

Arshansky Pass opens a crossing from the mountain side of Right Kyngarga towards the Fedyushkina slope. This is a separate pass stage: the start is already in the upper valley, and the finish remains on another mountain side. Prepare the Arshan approach, onward continuation and return to transport independently. From Kyngarga, the way climbs a grassy slope towards a broad saddle. Woodland gradually remains below, with pale limestone rocks beside the pass depression. The undulating crest reveals how the valleys occupy different sides of one mountain divide. Firsthand descriptions record a memorial and plaque on the saddle; view them respectfully and check their present condition. Beyond Arshansky, the selected route descends a grassy and scree gully on the Fedyushkina side. Changing from the open saddle towards another valley gives this short stage its character. Neighbouring passes do not establish a prepared continuation: Koziy Pass, distant lakes and a return to Kyngarga are outside this version. Confirm a manageable safe descent and an independent onward plan before departure.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - With caution By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data For a prepared walking group experienced in pass crossings, steep grass and unstable scree. A short stage is not automatically an easy walk: the start is remote from the village and a complete return needs separate preparation. The variant is unsuitable with children. With a dog, consider the gully, stones and national park animal-control rules; verify suitability throughout independently. Mobile reception and assistance throughout are unestablished.

Nearby

Nadezhda Shelter and Popov’s hut lie separately from the selected pass stage. Check each approach, present condition and any overnight use independently; operating supplied accommodation is unconfirmed. Koziy, Green and Chernyshevsky passes and the crossing between Snezhnaya and Bratchanka belong to other continuations. Photographs of a broader mountain journey do not automatically include them in this short stage. Neighbouring summits also need independent ascents. Kyngarga waterfalls, mineral springs and other Arshan attractions can accompany a separately prepared approach or return. They are outside this stage between mountain valleys. Confirm overnight places, water, vehicle storage and departure before travelling. View the saddle memorial respectfully, leave cairns undamaged and take all rubbish out.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Direct public transport to the mountain start and from the finish beyond the pass is unconfirmed. Arshan is a regional organising side, followed by a separately prepared Kyngarga walking approach. After descending the pass, an independent continuation or return plan is necessary. Agree village departure and a meeting point beforehand; ending on the slope does not reach transport.
By car
Plan to leave a vehicle at an agreed Arshan-side place. Vehicle access to upper Right Kyngarga, the saddle and the Fedyushkina-side finish is unestablished. Arrange the approach and subsequent exit on foot. Avoid directing transport onto mountain paths or treating the pass-stage ending as a vehicle meeting point.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Agree vehicle storage in a settlement with the receiving party in advance. Mountain rest places and neighbouring huts are unconfirmed as parking. Choose a vehicle-accessible meeting point after the separately prepared return.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 518 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The Kyngarga-side grassy slope becomes slippery after rain, and snow needs independent assessment. Fog can conceal the correct depression on the undulating crest. Avoid choosing a crossing solely from an old cairn. The Fedyushkina side is steeper: the grassy and scree gully, unstable stones and rocky edges require confident movement. The leader chooses protection and equipment for actual conditions. Turn back before the pass or omit the complete crossing if a safe permitted descent is unconfirmed. Both slopes can be avalanche-prone in winter. Earlier descriptions of a neighbouring summit bypass do not provide a prepared safe solution for this version. Prepare an independent route beyond the stage ending, obtain required Tunkinsky National Park visit permission and confirm mountain access and stopping places.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 1 h 41 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The full time for this exact stage is unestablished. Calculate the Arshan-to-mountain approach, saddle ascent, descent to the other side and onward continuation or prepared return separately. Published standard pass timing does not establish the duration of your complete journey. The stage’s one-day classification does not guarantee a village-to-village outing within a day. Agree water, any overnight places, weather reserve and an early turnaround. Register the mountain journey with EMERCOM and arrange check-in messages.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Stable warmer-season conditions after checking grassy slopes, the scree gully and the remaining route beyond the pass. Rain and fog change even a short crossing, while snow may remain in shaded ground. A winter repeat is unverified and requires independent avalanche and mountain preparation; existing prints or older steps do not establish safety.
