Route description

The Iput, Besed and Sozh shape this substantial ride from Gomel through Vetka and Svetilovichi. Between them come less familiar rivers: the Uvich, Vedernya, Stolbunka and Pokot. An attentive traveller can follow the gradual change from city outskirts to rural valleys, giving the names on the road signs a landscape of their own. In Vetka, the road passes the monument to the district’s first tractor operators and the EO-3322 excavator. For a closer introduction to the town, allow a separate detour to the Museum of Old Belief and Belarusian Traditions. Icons, older books and regional textiles add another perspective to the journey. After Svetilovichi and the Besed, the road changes direction, passes Zalesye and crosses the Sozh south of Chechersk. The western stretch leads towards Buda-Koshelevo and Naspa, then returns to Gomel across the Uza and Randovka. It finishes on Mogilevskaya Street in a different part of the city from the start. This is another May variant with the same principal passage through Vetka and Svetilovichi; Chechersk’s central square remains a separate sightseeing destination.

Nearby

Vetka’s museum on Red Square requires a separate detour. St Basil the Great Church in Zalesye stands behind the street frontage and also needs an additional approach. Buda-Koshelevo’s local history museum is temporarily closed; for a cultural stop, check visiting arrangements at the Moiseenko Gallery at 4 Komsomolskaya Street.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Arrive through Gomel and plan how to take your bicycle to Fuel Station No. 52 on 1st Lunacharskogo Street. Pugacheva Street Bus Stop is close to the opening stretch. After finishing at Fuel Station No. 11 on Mogilevskaya Street, Renault Centre and Tekstilnaya Street bus stops require separate approaches. Check timetables and bicycle carriage shortly before the trip.
By car
Use 60A 1st Lunacharskogo Street as the starting reference and 1Zh Mogilevskaya Street for the finish. Arrange the drop-off and collection in these different Gomel districts. At the fuel stations, select permitted stopping places and keep entrances and service roads clear.
Parking
All-day parking at the start has not been confirmed. Find a suitable place in Gomel beforehand and check the permitted stay. A fuel-station service area does not replace an agreed parking space for a car left behind.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски This long journey follows roads carrying motor traffic and requires preparation. Before starting, check where cycling is permitted on the M5, at the M8 crossing and on the final approach to Gomel. Continuous lawful passage across every section has not been confirmed, so resolve uncertain connections beforehand. The side loop near Naspa touches service grounds with restricted access. Obtain permission or establish a permitted continuation that omits the loop. Do not shorten the course by crossing central barriers or railway lines. Choose places clear of moving traffic for stops near rivers and monuments.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 18 h 34 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Expect a very long day for a prepared cyclist, beginning early and leaving time before dark. Vetka’s museum and Buda-Koshelevo’s gallery fit better into a trip divided into stages with confirmed accommodation. Allow additional time for travelling across Gomel after the finish.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Dry days with ample daylight and no snow or ice are preferable. In spring, check road-edge conditions; in summer, account for heat and water needs; in autumn, remember the earlier darkness. Strong winds may call for a shorter daily plan.
