Route description

The path leaves Ak-Kol Lake behind and climbs into the Kok-Aryk mountains, away from the open Jumgal valley. A pause beside the water is the beginning of a much more remote journey: pasture approaches lead towards the saddle and the southern side of the mountains. Kok-Aryk rewards walkers who want to cross a watershed on foot and watch village roads give way to isolated mountain passages. Beyond the pass, the journey descends towards settlements near the Naryn River. This section ends around Tabylgyty and Kara-Suu, so accommodation and collection on the southern side need arranging in advance. It is an independent trek with a long descent. Local knowledge is valuable, and a spare day gives the group room to wait out snow or bad weather.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map

What to expect

Places
Ak-Kol Lake The lakeshore lies near the northern start. Pause beside the water before heading towards the mountain saddle; managed beach facilities have not been confirmed.
Kok-Aryk Pass The saddle links the northern Ak-Kol approaches with the southern descent. The original trekking account warns of an unmarked path and snow that may remain into July.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 1776 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Kok-Aryk has no dependable waymarking and includes a long descent where choosing the wrong line is possible. Snow can close the saddle even in July; obtain a recent report from local guides. Do not attempt a snow-covered slope without suitable skills and equipment. Carry food and shelter regardless of possible encounters with herders.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 19 h 9 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow roughly 3–4 days for the complete northern Ak-Kol to Naryn-side crossing, with camping nights. This is a planning estimate for this longer itinerary; the shorter Ak-Kol to Kazarman account is not a ready-made schedule. Add a spare day and establish safe camp options before departure.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
July and August are the main window for an experienced group, after local confirmation that Kok-Aryk is clear of snow. Early July can still be unsuitable. Consider September only with settled weather and a recent pass report, and prepare for early snowfall.
