Route description

The Kök-Art valley offers a gradual approach to the Fergana mountains. From the Kazarman side, the walk follows the river’s direction, leaving village approaches behind and reaching the upper valleys. It is a useful place to see how water shapes the network of roads and pasture paths: each choice of direction relates to the bends of the river and the slopes above it. This section works as a valley walk in its own right or as preparation for the ascent to Saimaluu-Tash. It ends before the archaeological complex, however. Do not assume the petroglyphs fit into the same day: beyond the valley is a separate mountain undertaking that needs suitable weather, energy in reserve and an agreed continuation.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No data With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data The valley walk finishes at mountain approaches and needs its own overnight or collection plan. Families should choose a separately assessed short section instead of the full journey. Bicycle suitability and dog rules have not been established.

Nearby

Saimaluu-Tash is a separate destination above the end of this section. CBT usually arranges petroglyph visits in July and August; reaching the complex and returning need an additional plan. Use a Kazarman stop to arrange supplies and obtain a report on the upper valley before setting out.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Scheduled transport to the exact valley start and upper finish has not been confirmed. Ask a local host about a Kazarman-side drop-off and an agreed collection point. Do not expect a return service in the upper valley.
By car
Access from the Kazarman side depends on the local valley road. Agree where the vehicle can actually stop and check the road after rain. Finishing requires separate collection arrangements or a return walk planned in advance.
Parking
No dedicated parking place at this start has been verified. Arrange storage in a settlement or with your host; a riverbank or pasture access road should not be treated as a place for leaving a car for several days.

What to expect

Places
Kök-Art River — The named river accompanies the valley approach from the Kazarman side towards the Fergana mountains. Choose a safe bank for a stop rather than treating any riverside point as a verified ford.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 613 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The main issues are water levels, valley approaches and a safe finish to the day. After heavy rain, avoid unstable banks and do not force a crossing when the flow is dangerous. Check a separate mountain forecast before continuing higher. Give herding dogs and livestock room and respect the work of their owners.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 8 h 47 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow roughly 1–2 days for the complete valley section, depending on pace, overnight plans and collection. This is a walking estimate with stops, not a verified transport schedule. Plan the ascent to Saimaluu-Tash as another stage; it is not included in this allowance.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose summer days with a settled forecast and a checked access road. July and August are the usual window if continuing to the high petroglyph site. After downpours, obtain a local assessment of river crossings before proceeding.
