Route description

This journey follows water through the Inner Tien Shan: west from Burkhan Valley, through its tributary country and onward to Bolgart. The interest lies in watching several mountain rivers form a larger system. Jiluu-Suu brings water from the high valleys; after Archaly joins, the main flow takes the name Bolgart. The broad river country gives the journey an unhurried scale. Banks, side valleys and bends offer more to discover than a single pass. A rewarding approach is to follow the rivers gradually, allowing time for confluence pauses and quiet camps outside the floodplain. This remote mountain country rewards self-sufficiency and a dependable exit plan.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No data With a dog - No data By bike - Partially With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Both ends need separate logistics. Cycling programmes establish use of the Bolgart and Jiluu-Suu corridor, but not current conditions throughout this line. Child and dog suitability has not been verified; a stroller is unsuitable for the complete stage. Coverage is unknown.

Nearby

Bolgart routes continue towards Small Naryn or other mountain valleys. Jiluu-Suu springs and a Tosor exit belong to separate branches and are not automatic parts of this line. Any service at a shepherd base needs an arrangement.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Regular service directly reaching these river endpoints has not been verified. Arrange Burkhan access and an onward Bolgart exit with your local host. Vehicle collection must account for roads, crossings and the group’s actual continuation.
By car
Organised driving and cycling programmes use this region, with different routes and dates. Check the intended bank, bridges and fords before departure. Do not plan to replace the whole walking stage with vehicle travel without separate driver confirmation.
Parking
Confirmed long-term vehicle storage at these endpoints has not been found. Arrange storage at a lower base, together with transfer to the start and collection after the river stage.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 39 м.
SurfaceGravel 34%, Dirt / grass 19%, Unknown 47%.
Риски The principal concerns are crossings, bank bypasses and rough-road conditions after rain. A bridge described historically may no longer exist; confirm every required crossing before departure. Camp outside active floodplain ground and do not treat clear water as proof that it is safe to drink.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 15 h 33 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Plan | A multi-day trek with stages agreed in advance A preliminary allowance is about 3 walking days for a self-supported stage, plus weather reserve. This is a planning estimate for the long river line, not a published completion time. A cycling tour or vehicle excursion duration does not apply. Add transfer and the final onward exit separately.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose summer with manageable rivers and confirmed crossings. Heavy rain can alter conditions even when roads are snow-free. A precise seasonal window for this walking line has not been established; check local forecasts and access before travel.
