Route description

Kyzyl-Kasa connects valleys in the northern spurs of Kichik-Alay. The first part runs near the Kyrgyz-Ata river system, before turning towards the saddle and descending towards Ak-Töbe. Beyond the pass, the direction of the water changes and the journey continues in a different river corridor. Leave time to study the side gorges and choose the local paths carefully. Kyzyl-Kasa gives the walking day a clear goal, while its finish still needs a planned valley exit. A guide is particularly useful for arranging the approach and final collection.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 1044 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Check the direction of herding-path branches on the pass slopes. Cloud and rain reduce visibility and footing. Ask about side-stream crossings and avoid a late start that leaves little daylight for the descent.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 6 h 16 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow roughly 6–8 hours for the pass day with stops, with a known path and suitable weather. Transfers, the approach and the walk to collection are additional. Keep an overnight contingency when carrying heavy packs.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Summer or early autumn after checking the saddle. Starting in the morning avoids lower-valley heat and keeps daylight for the descent. Fresh snow or prolonged rain may require changing the date.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Stable footwear and poles for the slopes.
A warm jacket, waterproof layer, sun protection and drinking water.
An offline map, headlamp, first-aid supplies and food reserves for a longer walk out.
