Route description

Kok-Moynok in the Issyk-Ata district is a small lake among open mountain valleys. The appeal lies in the gradual change from a river gorge to the broad upper basin, where space and changing light take priority over urban facilities. Pause at the lake while treating its damp edges with care. This Kok-Moynok lies far from the sandstone canyons of Boom Gorge. The composite plan includes a lake section and separate river-path portions. A continuous safe connection between them is unconfirmed; before travelling, a guide must link real paths and determine the return. The beginning and ending also differ. First agree lake access, local restrictions and the whole descent before treating it as a complete outing.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data A local guide must first link the outing’s portions with safe actual paths; it remains a preliminary plan. Children without mountain experience should skip it. Dog rules and reception are unestablished; a bicycle or stroller is unsuitable for the complete outing. Judge return stamina by the real agreed way.

Nearby

Kok-Moynok Pass lies beyond the upper lake section and is outside this plan. The waterfall in another branch needs its own approach. Issyk-Ata hot springs and Boom Gorge’s Kok-Moynok canyons are independent excursions.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
A current scheduled service to the beginning is unconfirmed. Arrange a Bishkek transfer after agreeing the real mountain approach. Set collection in accessible valley ground, accounting for the plan’s separate beginning and ending.
By car
The lower landmark is Tuyuk Issyk-Ata on the Issyk-Ata side. A recent firsthand report describes a private-territory sign at the entrance gate: confirm permission and a permitted delivery point beforehand. Walk to the lake section; vehicle travel does not establish a safe connection between the river portions.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Agree permitted vehicle storage after choosing an actual walking beginning. An older roadside stop description does not establish a current space or authorize leaving a car at private gates.

What to expect

Places
Kok-Moynok Lake the small upper-valley lake beside the lake section of the plan, with potentially damp margins.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 1798 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски A safe link between the separate portions is unconfirmed. A guide must check the way before departure; avoid replacing it with a direct slope crossing. The climb is tiring, the open valley exposed to sun, wind and rain, and lake margins can be wet. Confirm private lower access, water and the entire return; never search randomly for a link in poor weather.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 9 h 56 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Time for the route | Unestablished With stops | Unestablished Set a schedule after checking actual connections and the return. The lake ascent and river portions do not establish a complete loop. Allow for pauses, lower approach and exit; older ordinary lake-walk timings do not determine this plan.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry summer conditions with clear visibility and checked upper paths. Sun, wind and rain change quickly in the open valley. Early snow, ice or high water are reasons to avoid the unconfirmed links.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Mountain footwear, poles, waterproofs, warm layers and sun protection.
Water, reserve food, first-aid kit and headlamp.
Detailed mapping of the agreed real way, spare power and communications; discuss the return plan with the guide beforehand.
