Route description

The selected internal circuit runs from a woodland junction through the Stone Labyrinth, Deep Gully and Beech Glade to the grove’s riverside. Its character changes from limestone corridors and woodland to pale canyon walls above the Khosta River. After the river-side portion, woodland paths return to the original junction. Natural stone steps and metal stairways demand attentive footing, making this a more demanding walk than the Small Circuit. Add the central Samshitovaya Street entrance approach separately. Khosta Fortress is on its own branch, while the Giant Yew lies on another internal path; neither is promised here. Take time over the confirmed woodland and river stops while keeping a margin before the grove closes.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Walk from Khosta to the central entrance and internal junction first. Children need experience on longer stairways and uneven paths; carrying young children throughout is unsuitable. The Big Circuit does not suit a stroller. Dogs and bicycles are prohibited; continuous reception is unconfirmed.

Nearby

Khosta Fortress requires its own short branch from a sign; examine masonry from the permitted information platform. The Giant Yew lies on another Small Circuit path. The Into the Past direction to Devil’s Gate Canyon is an independent extension with extra time; the visitor-centre exhibition remains on the entry side.

Getting there

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 1.5–2.5 h
With stops | 3–4 h This editorial allowance covers the selected internal circuit, shorter than the standard visitor-centre excursion. Add entrance approach, exhibition and branches separately. The reserve recommends starting the Big Circuit by 14:00 in winter and 15:00 in summer; arrive earlier for an unhurried visit and confirm present access.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Visit in different seasons when access is permitted. Assess slippery stairs and the riverside after rain, and postpone in strong wind. Winter closing is 17:00 and summer closing 18:00; beneath dense trees it becomes dark earlier than on an open city street.
